Great scanner, poor ADF

Comments about HP Scanjet N8460 Scanner:

The base unit, HP scanning software and specs are very good. Scan quality settings and manipulation of image are great. Fairly fast at standard settings. Image quality is excellent. But the ADF is a pile! I have owned this unit and its predecessor (8390) for nearly three years. The ADF will not handle the rated duty cycle. The rollers have a short life. I have replaced the ADF at least once every 5 months through the HP service contract. Last time it lasted just 2 months. IMHO, the ADF is poorly engineered and not worthy of the base scanning unit. I am glad this product is now discontinued and cannot recommend it if the primary use is scanning documents.
