It was very easy to set up. I just plugged in the power cord and USB cable and it immediately started going. The first backup took exactly 1 hour. After that it takes less than 5 minutes to do maintenance backups. The only hard documentation was a miniscule insert that got you started. Any real information has to be viewed or printed out from the hard drive itself. When I had some questions, it took me a while to figure this out. I was concerned about whether it was doing a regular backup, so I created some directories and files on Word and waited. Then checked back after an hour. The files weren't backed up. (They claim after 5 minutes of idle time, a backup should occur.) So, I checked the documentation. They said look for the icon. There wasn't any icon showing up on my desktop. The only way I could get the system to do a forced backup was to unplug the USB, then plug it back in. Although this isn't the way they said it should work, I'm happy with the drive because I had no backup before, and now I have this enormous amount of storage space in case I do crash and also have a place to store all those photos I have stored only on CD's.

This is truly the definition of a "Plug & Play" product. Open the box, plug in the power cord and the USB cable and the built in software does the rest. A quick review of the options on what you want it to save and less than 10 minutes later everything on my laptop is backed up. No difference in startup or shutdown. Very reasonable price for so much storage. Outstanding product.
