The power supply that came w/ my HP DV3500 laptop died, so I looked for a replacement. This HP branded model is much smaller and sleeker. The USB power port lets me charge my iPhone conveniently w/out using a laptop port. Adapter lets you plug power supply snugly into a wall outlet. Much better than original model!

This cord seems to work well, and it is a genuine HP product, but the cord is SOOOO short, I have to literally sit on the floor next to my outlet to be able to use it. It might work if the desk you typically use your laptop on is within about 2 feet of an outlet, otherwise, look for a charger with a longer cord. Also, it was more expensive (by about $20) than the previous cord--not HP--which we purchased, but that one had a normal length of cord and even adapters.

On the road, a reliable power source is as important as the device being charged. This product for this short time owning it, has done a good job charging my laptop in the shortest time then the original power source that came with my Compaq Presario. The cord is thicker and durable.
