Cursor blinks and jitters if the optics are on the wrong surface, but any mousepad or unreflective hard surface works quite well. It's great for right or left-handers, and tracks quite well. Lightweight, but sturdy enough to survive a few falls. Scrolling wheel has decent "clicking" texture. I would prefer if it either went to sleep after a period of inactivity, because the power switch is on the bottom and is fussy to use, so I usually get the LED in the face in the process!

The cap, which is the left and right buttons, snaps off under which is stored the receiver that plugs into a usb port. This makes the left and right buttons feel a bit flimsy. Although not bad, and certainly worth the price, this is not my favorite mouse. I do like the minimal size of the receiver - so much nicer than the larger ones on many mice. You can leave it plugged in even when you put the laptop in a case.

                I apologize, the HP Wireless Elite Keyboard v1.2 is not listed as having the Link5 capability. It may have only been added with the v2.0. One of the easiest ways to tell if your keyboard is capable of Link5 is to look for the Link5 symbol on your keyboard's micro-receiver.
