I like to use heavy, very bright paper for professional documents, and this stuff is great for the job. I usually print in draft mode when I'm using it for "in house" purposes, and that's quite legible; but when I go into "high quality" mode it really shines. Business graphics also look great: on this bright paper, they really pop.

If you are a consultant, bear in mind that the heft of the paper can make a report seem more valuable to your customer. That's just a quirk of human nature.

I've also printed photos on it, but that's not going to give you great results. For one thing, you'd have to go through the hassle of developing a color profile for the combination of printer and paper. It just isn't worth the bother. I do use it when printing out "funny" picture to share with the family, and it's okay for that.

I have been using the 8.5"x11" Staples product, item #733332 for many years and loved it. When I went to my Staples dealer they were out of stock, so a Staples employee suggested this Hammermill paper which was more expensive then the Staples paper.
I then did some comparisons between the two. The feel and sturdiness was about the same, but when I held up both these papers to a light, the appearance of the Hammermill paper was very blotchy compared to the Staples paper which was very smooth. The whiteness was slightly better on the Staples paper though.
The next thing I tried was to print a photo and then some type fonts. Both the papers were about the same, with a slight edge favoring the Staples product. They were printed with a high quality Canon Pixma printer.

Comments about HammerMill® Premium Inkjet Paper, 8 1/2" x 11", 24lb., 500/Ream:

The normally purchase HP inkjet paper for useage in my HP Deskjet F 4180 printer. I went to Staples to purchase HP inkjet paper and the HammerMill Premium Inkjet paper was on sale and the HP inkjet paper was totally out. So I bought the HammerMill Premium Inkjet paper. WOW, To my surprise, the HammerMill Premium Inkjet paper performed great. The lettering was clear. I think this HammerMill Inkjet paper has a better quality that the HP Inkjet paper. I will be buying HammerMill Premium Inkjet paper. I rate this paper a A*..

Dependable quality, getting pricey

Comments about HammerMill® Premium Inkjet Paper, 8 1/2" x 11", 24lb., 500/Ream:

When I bought my first laser printer many years ago, there were only a few brands of high quality paper available by the ream for the average user. I started using Hammermill Laserprint because it was brighter than most competitors and slightly heavier weight.

The printers came and went but I stuck with Hammermill because I had virtually zero jams in all those years, even with duplex printing. It did not shed dust inside the printer, either, and the print quality was always excellent. So I was never tempted to go with a cheaper brand.

Well they seem to have discontinued the old paper, and I have also shifted to mostly inkjet printing, so this product is the logical successor. But it sure has gotten expensive, and if it were not for Staples coupons or sales or whatnot, I might be looking for other brands. I am still using this because it is super-dependable and takes one variable out of my printing worries. If I were printing a higher volume, I might start thinking about the cost issue. It's great, but can never be five stars at such a high price...
