Failed way too early

Unit worked fine from day one and then (as another reviewer mentioned) it simply failed about 2 months into usage. No obvious reason: no smoke or burned out lights to indicate failure. The hard drive in it is fine, thankfully, but the enclosure is toast. These folks usually make fairly reliable stuff and I have several of their other products. Looks as though they went "on the cheap" for the guts of this one, though.

The unit power supply died on the third use. The molded cable end needs to be held in for the power unit to work. Upon contacting I/O Magic, they indicated since it was new to take it back to [...] has a 14 day technology policy on technology and told me to contact I/O Magic. The circle continues. [...] They don't stand behind technology products and won't help you with them. They have lost me as a customer and I'm sure they don't care. Beware. Oh, I just threw the unit away and bought another brand (Fantom Drives) and am VERY satisfied. You have been warned!

The power supply failed pretty soon after purchase. Replacements run about $25, almost the cost of the entire unit.

When you first install the drive it seems like it should work ok, however there is no active cooling on it so the case gets pretty hot. Fortunatley the case is aluminum so it transfers the heat out somewhat but there should at least be some sort of basic heat-sink built into it. It also feels like your crushing the drive connection when you try to finish the assembly process.

E-mailed I/O Magic regarding missing screws. They sent them the next day. Installed drive. It fits fine and runs fine. Runs warm (normal) but not hot.
