Does not work. PC does not recognize

PC recognizes external harddrive but does not assign a drive letter. Tried on multiple PC's and received the same action.

I needed this device after a hard drive failure. It was easy to set up, worked like it promises, and enabled me to see all the files on my failed hard drive and transfer them to my new hard drive. Worked like a charm on very large .pst files. I did not notice any problem with file transfer speed.

Works, but pretty shakey construction

I bought 3 of these drives. The rear endcap is very loose on one, and the hotmelt glue used to keep the front cap and circuit board together just fell of on another. With some electrical tape it's OK but I'd never buy this model again.

If you have multiple 2.5" drives, whether inside your CPU or in external cases, this device lets you quickly swap them to this power supply and USB interface. My experience is that it's often the power supply that fails on external drives, and I've also had trouble with Firewire interfaces. This is just a power supply, IDE connector, USB interface and otherwise empty case that allows you to easily test all your drives in a configuration that can reveal the true source of your issues, and possibly provide the means to reclaim and restore data. I consider it an essential tool if you have a multi-drive setup.
