                    Regular CD drives will not read DVD files. You may be able to manually get into it by going into 'My Computer' > Right click on the CD and click 'open' or 'explore'
                    It will show you all of the files in the CD/DVD, if there is a 'Setup.exe' click on that. It should start up for you. If you have any other problems please call (866) 360-2343. The manufacurer, Nuance, will help you directly.

                    This Iomagic Slim Drive has the minimum of 128 MB RAM, and the ROM which is an acronym for Read-Only Memory is a IDVD8ROM Device in which you can read CD and DVD disk on the drive.

                  The CD rom in my computer sparked and died. I am not sure whether to get an internal CD rom replacement or and external CD rom. Which is better? I want to be able to play music, transfer songs from CD's on my daughters ipod, have my little one play her Cd rom games.....Is an external one better b/c then I will have it for my daughters lap top for collge as well and have it for future use on other computers?

                    The point you've mentioned is valid - with an external drive, you have the option to remove it and use it on future computers. There is nothing that's especially better about an internal drive, except for the fact that it is physically installed in your computer, meaning there's less chance for external damage to occur to it.
