This SSD drive continues to please me each time I boot up or shut down. It allows me not quite enough time for a brief visit to the bathroom in the morning before it is awaiting my sign-in password. Its that quick.

Booting up & shutting down were not a real concern since switching to Windows 7. But now booting is FAST. I mean really fast. The system doesn't even have time to display the windows logo.

Essentially any activity that is disk speed dependent is much faster. How fast? One benchmarking program rates my fastest mechanic drive at 2.3 (most are 1.8); this drive is off the scales at 58.8. That's right, 58.8.

However, if an activity is constrained by other aspects of your system (such as graphics card or memory or another disk), you won't get much benefit.

The [explitive deleted]-ware bundled with this drive was from Acronis (one of the least competent software publishers I have ever had the dissatisfaction of working with). It failed on numerous tries to ready the disk, as did another program I use. But I had downloaded a full featured program called Reflect by Macrium (free) that successfully cloned my old hard disk. And in a short time after was good to go.

I consulted Kingston's tech support before purchase, and they were easy to reach & suggested the Reflect software.

My bundle came with a USB2 enclosure that facilitated cloning my old system disk. Alas, it is only USB 2.0 rather than 3, so the transfer isn't very fast.

Note that an SSD drive "wears out" thru successive erasing & re-writing. Thus, it is NOT advised as a data disk, or anything for which files are often changing. Since programs & windows files don't change often, it is suitable for a system disk.

Also, for those unaware, do NOT defragment an SSD drive, for exactly the reason just mentioned. The more things are written & erased, the sooner your drive will fail. And when it fails, it will be all-of-a-sudden and that-is-all-she-wrote.

I got to the last step and it would not install. I contacted customer support and the reply was "Unfortunately because this is not the full version of Acronis (included software) , some features are limited. Nonetheless there is another application that we have received good reviews on. With that said , please feel free to give Macrium Reflect a try." IE I can't help but maybe you can get help elsewhere. I am returning the product.

Comments about Kingston 240GB V300 SSD SATA Upgrade Bundle Kit with Adapter:

My client was using a 1 tb maxtor drive and kept complaing of slowness with the operating system. While consulting with one of the knowledgeable team members at Staples, we were able to come up with a manageable solution. This drive is outstanding. Easy to install and very fast, faster than those big clumpy tB maxtor drives. My client does a lot of multitasking with his system, running 3 monitors, 16gigs of memory and a Amd fx chip. I dont understand why it took me soo long to convert over to an ssd drive, but the price should not stop anyone from converting over. If space is an issue, just use 2 ssd drive in a raid configuration for the operating system and a good TB drive for storage.

Comments about Kingston 240GB V300 SSD SATA Upgrade Bundle Kit with Adapter:

The good: this drive sped up my computer considerably, making it better than new. Files open faster, web pages load faster, and the computer runs quieter. I had some mounting and cloning issues and Kingston Tech support was very accessable and helpful.
The bad: I suspect that in a more conventional desktop or laptop the install would be easier, but I have an all in one and none of the mounting options supplied in the kit worked for my install. However the drive is extremely light and compact, so once in place I used cable ties to secure it, and I have no concerns about the physical install at all.
The Acronis cloning software supplied with the kit was of no use, as it would not recognize the existence of the drive, therefore could not clone to it. Kingston support was on the spot however, and after exhausting all remedies, suggested I download and use Macrium Refleect, which was free. They even sent me an email detailing how to use Macrium, and urged me to call them back if I encountered further issues, so again, props to Kingston.
A few things to mention about the cloning: my original hardrive showed 132gb of data, and only 96gb came over, yet my o/s (Vista Home Premium) works great, and for the life of me I can't figure out what got left behind- all my photos, music, documents and programs seem to be present and available so....?
Also, make sure you completely disable your antivirus software, disconnect from your network (wired or wireless) before commencing. I shut off my Norton a/v, but it continued to do idle time scans, meaning every twenty minutes or so, I would see the usb enclosure light stop falshing- meaning the computer was no longer writing to the new drive. I would just move the progress window on my screen, and the "scan complete" notification would appear. Once I closed that writing would resume. This meant I had to babysit the cloning process, and it took over three hours when I'm told it should have taken about one (or less, as I really wasn't transferring that much data). So, I think the hit for that goes on me, not Macrium, as I didn't stop the scans completely.
Absent the issues above, I love the drive, and may get one for a laptop my wife has, as it definitely improves speed, and should increase reliability as well.

Easy install, HUGE performance boost!

Comments about Kingston 240GB V300 SSD SATA Upgrade Bundle Kit with Adapter:

Been waiting for SSD prices to drop for a while, but the lagging performance on my Macbook Pro (2012) was getting frustrating so I went ahead with the purchase.

I liked that this kit came with the external HD case. I temporarily installed the SSD in the external enclosure and used SuperDuper to clone my HDD to it. Once the copy was complete, I opened up the Macbook and swapped out the HDD with new SSD, closed it up and booted the new drive.

Prior to upgrade it took 1 min 45 sec from pressing the power button to get to the login screen. After SSD install the boot time dropped to 45 seconds. After about a week now I notice a huge system-wide perfomance boost; apps launch quicker, files open quicker. It's like a new computer!

My only gripe is that the external case that was included has stopped working reliably. I've tried 3 different hard drives in it and I need to reseat the pin connection mulitple times to get it to connect. This cost the product a 1 star deduction :(

Comments about Kingston 240GB V300 SSD SATA Upgrade Bundle Kit with Adapter:

Excellent product. I was a little skeptical at first because I was concerned about the mirroring of the original drive, but it has performed flawlessly.
