I had to remove KIS from my pc as it completely took over. It filled over 300 GB, leaving less than one GB free on my 600 GB disk. I figured out the problem on my own while waiting for an email reply from Kaspersky.

It gets 2 stars because its protection is great if it works for you. However....

It does not play well with Firefox. One by one I had to disable all the nifty features because they caused Firefox to crash. After every Firefox update something else had to be disabled. I figured that out on my own too, again waiting for responses from Kaspersky. The nifty features work when using Chrome but that is not my browser of choice.

Their reply to an earlier support query about their special features causing Firefox to crash concluded with them wanting me to turn off all protection and go cruising the web trying to replicate the issue so I could then run reports to submit to them. I told them I'd rather leave all the special features shut down than risk infecting my computer.

In previously years if I had a problem I was able to easily reach a person on the phone, generally get a quick answer, and be on my way. No more. You now have to submit a support request online, download a utility, run a report, and attach that report to your request. Even after doing all that, the reply I got was boilerplate, listing 10 standard troubleshooting procedures to perform before bothering them further.

I believe the reason my Kaspersky Internet Security expanded to fill all available space on my disk was due to the most recent Firefox update but I can't prove it. After that, I just wanted it off my pc and guess what, then the uninstall failed! And the recourse is to submit yet another support ticket and wait wait wait for a reply! On my own, again, I found a back door way to uninstall and this time it worked.

No more Kaspersky for me. Luckily, with rebates, I got this essentially for free. I downloaded Avast Pro Trial and it had a problem with my email client so I moved on to Avira free. So far so good.

in my humble opinion Kaspersky is the best internet security software out there today. it does not clamp down your system resources as much as the other main security competitors out there so you don't have to upgrade your computer after installing protection. it does not take over your computer's operation hampering every day tasks. I do admit if your into going to sites with errant java and cgi script programming, it will not allow pop ups without going into the settings and making exclusions and allowing those sites to operate, but that is what you want for internet security. in about 5 years of usage I've only had one problem with a xp machine update and it was fixed in 3 days with a new update release that automatically took care of itself. you cannot say that with nortons or mcafee, where iv'e had 50 times more problems with the various computer configurations out there. too many times people set their computer up wrong and it is barely working, what is nice about Kaspersky is that you can do a vulnerability scan and it finds certain problems and recommends the fixes to keep you safe. recently nortons and mcafee has reverse engineered and incorporated some of these ideas in their new releases, and I hate it when I have to open up a security program just to delete the trash. i'll stick to Kaspersky's, since it has done me good through the years at a very competitive price and higher performance than the others.

Activation code did not work. Tech Support provided no support, no answers. I mentioned that I used Windows 7. The tech support replied, "If you use Windows 8...." The tech support simply copied and pasted generic information that did not apply to my problem in their live chat and in their email. The tech support deserves "zero" star. I am returning this product.
