The Kingston V300 SSD includes the SSD 3.5" brackets, cables, 2mm spacer (which is helpful if you use the included enclosure) and a external USB 2.0 enclosure. The enclosure was great for transferring all my old data to the new drive.
I purchased this SSD to replace the stock 5400 RPM hard drive in a Apple Macbook Pro 2009 with the NVIDIA SATA II (3GB/s) chipset. On the Kingston website the V300 SSD is listed backward compatibility with SATA II. But when I installed the SSD, the drive was limited to SATA I or 1.5 GB/s, which is slow. This is an issue with Macbook's and Macbook Pro's with a NVIDIA chipsets and not the Kingston drive. But Apple owner's beware.
The drive is cool and low-powered. After several hours of heavy use. The cooling fan did not turn on once.

Hardware was great and the kit provided a number of things beyond a bare bones drive. The Acronis software did not work for me, but support suggested the Macrium Reflect trial software which did clone the existing drive. Probably just me, but there was much more to resolve the setup issues than provided with the installation information. The final result was a windows 7.9 performance figure for the drive. I expect the install would be easier on a laptop. My experience suggests if the cloned drive is to remain in the system it needs to be initialized.

Comments about Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB 2.5" SATA III (6 Gb/s) MLC Internal SSD:

Had this product installed without the tech checking to see how much memory I had. When he installed it, I had 1mil of Factory Image space and more than half of my C drive memory was automatically used up. Brought it back, they installed the same product only a 240GB which reinstated some of the above. The original purpose of replacing my hard drive with this one, was because after a tech checked it for malware (which wasn't present), the computer acted like a wind-up clock that was winding down. The tech explained it had to do with the way my drive worked as opposed to the solid state kind, like the Kingston. That problem may or may not still exist as it's too soon to tell. My feeling is, that it's resolved.

I brought my laptop in thinking I was going to need a new computer--which I really can't afford right now. Great guy at the Staples tech center, Luis, listened to what I told him and had it figured out that my hard drive was on it's way out. Testing confirmed it. He closed my old drive to the new solid state drive and my computer runs like it did when it came out of the box! Yay, Luis, yay, Staples tech team!

Very fast upgrade for my computer. Having the USB Hard Drive cradle to help with data migration was very helpful. Great value for a great price.

SSD Kingston 120GB

Comments about Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB 2.5" SATA III (6 Gb/s) MLC Internal SSD:

Hello,
I went into Staples to check price on a 500 GB regular hard drive. I knew there were about 60 bucks. Indeed Staples had one for about that. To my huge blessing the salesman asked me what I consider a solid-state drive. told him I didn't know enough to answer the question.

So he educated me.
Using a six-year-old Toshiba Vista good working laptop for my Internet computer for email and some other small wordprocessing tasks. The computers been quite satisfactory with a couple of a annoying exceptions. After a lot of use some of the operating system files had become corrupted. Only a week or two before finished reloading the operating system. This took about three days. Of course that's not eight hours of staring at the computer screen but still it was a lot of productivity lost, which was one reason I was avoiding the task for ages.

The clean install did solve several significant problems. However the computer was still notoriously slow often. Not always, and not on every part of every application. But waiting several seconds or more for the hourglass to disappear was the norm. This had gotten slowly but steadily worse over 2 to 3 years.

Staples offered to install the SSD for a very reasonable price. As I live far from them (four hours round trip). And needed the computer I decided that I would do it myself. I had never done this specific operation before. There ACRONIS cloning software was absolutely fantastic. I had no difficulties with it. It was a very quick process and one of the absolute best high-tech/IT things I have ever done.

Rather than spending $500-$900 for a new laptop which I really don't need, I now have a computer that is better than new in practically every regard and I can think of. It's lightning fast on almost everything I use it for. Lockups, though very frequently experienced over the prior three years, are just about a thing of the past. The fact I don't recall any since I installed the Kingston SSD.

I can't give this enough positive stars this is absolutely fantastic.

Oh, I never needed the 500 GB on this machine. The Toshiba has two separate hard drives hundred and 120. The OS hard drive was 100. The new one a 120 GB Kingston. So I gain 20 GB of space on the main OS hard drive, which is about all I'll need. This was one of the more wonderful transactions I've had for long time.
