I purchased this card reader to replace an older multi card reader. For USB 2.0 speed is average.
The CF card slot is ok but shallow. Some care is in order to keep from bending the pins. I will probably order a card reader with deeper guides and slot for CF cards.

The construction is above average and it has the smaller sd micro slot for the memory cards used in tablets.
I have an Sd Reader that is USB 3.0 and is very fast so I didn't check that slot out.
All in all I think this card reader is very usefull for travel and back home equally.

I recommend this product for people searching for USB 2.0 readers.

I bought this when I bought my new Mac Laptop and it worked great until I accidentally did not properly eject a card -- and then it stopped working.

I even have checked it with different cards and after computer reboots and it still does not work.

What is annoying is that there is zilch on the customer service support from Kodak. They redirected my to Lexar's customer service -- a group who has promised me some things and not delivered regarding my Lexar Professional 1000x cards.

Also, this car reader is very delicate. The Compact Flash reader does not allow the card to get very far into the reader, making it feel fairly flimsy, as a CF card is pretty hefty.

When I tied to use the SD slot, I discovered that you have to put the card in upside down. Since I don't use SD cards often, it wasn't a huge problem, but it was an annoyance.

To sum it up: 1) When this worked, it worked OK. It is a delicate design that does not physically protect the extending USB piece.

2) It is easily broken by the most mundane and/or accidental mistake.

My recommendation: Buy if you need something RIGHT NOW (which is why I bought it) -- and then buy a back-up ASAP.

Recently bought a new computer and realized it didn't have a card reader for my Cannon Sure Shot like my old computer had. Went to Staples and got immediate help. The sales person took me to the item I needed and the price was fair. I always fine excellent help at Staples. With the rebates and ink recycling credits I can save 20 or 30% over any other office supply. I do all my electronic needs and office supply shopping at Staples. It's saves me money and the service and tech support is the very best.

Memory Card Reader that works

Comments about Kodak A250 50-in-1 Memory Card Reader/Writer:

I had a Vivitar card reader that opened up a different drive every time you used a different memory card. This meant that if you switched the type of card (in my case a CF for an SD) a different drive opened and the camera software to print and edit the pictures couldn't find the path when you opened it. I had my Hardware support guy come in and check it out for me. We found out that the Vivitar software had a different drive for each type of memory card. That was why you couldn't use more than one card without losing the path. The Kodak uses only one drive which allows you to open any software for the different cameras without a problem.

Recently purchased a new computer and realized after I received and set it up that I had no way to upload my photos - I purchased the Kodak Memory card reader. Very easy to use and store away when not needed. So far the reader works great. .
