TouchStation is the perfect solution for any office environment.TouchStation is a state-of-the-art biometric system that uses fingerprint technology to instantly identify employees and eliminate costly buddy punching. Decent product

My company purchased this product 1.5 years ago to supplement and verify paper time sheets. I have worked with a few different time clock programs and consider this one better than the others. Setup and management are reasonably intuitive and it is easy to edit both setup parameters and data as necessary. The reports module is full-featured and easy to use. As infrared scanners go, the TouchStation is about as good as any I have seen. Infrared scanners in general tend to be finicky, not working well for certain employees. At least the TouchStation's scanning ability does not seem to degrade over time as other scanners sometimes do.

Two cons:
1. The USB interface on the scanner can be touchy, requiring the device to be unplugged and replugged or sometimes even requiring a server restart. The device is USB 2.0 compliant and is extremely problematic if connected to a USB 1.0 port.

2. If the software needs to be moved to another hard drive, file transfer takes a very long time and finger scan bitmaps do not transfer well. I was unable to use the existing scans and had to rescan all employees following the transfer.

Overall, problems are minor as long as the computer has USB 2.0 support. I would recommend installing the system on a fairly new computer to avoid issues with USB support and slow processors.

My company purchased this item about 1.5 years ago. Within the first month, the computer the software was on had to be moved. Since the time clock had to stay in the same place, we hooked up another computer to it. This was a nightmare trying to uninstall and reinstall the software. Not to mention when I updated my computer (that the software is now on), our IT guy was on the phone with their support dept for 3 hours trying to figure out why the device kept timing out. NOW my problem is that I can no longer add new fingerprints. I went to the website and they have pretty good tech help online (probably the only plus), but even though I follow the instructions step-by-step, the problem is still not fixed. I've put way too much time into this thing. And if I had to do it over again, I'd go for the more expensive product. The money we saved was all spent (and then some) on all the technical support calls we've had to make.

This product is horrible. Some days it works fine, other days it doesn't recognize any employee prints. We have two employees that can't be registered at all. Support is of NO help. We have had to re-load fingerprint information several times. I and my employess are so frustrated that we are scrapping this and buying a new system. The technical support plan is expensive and unhelpful. It has quit working entirely and we have even reloaded from the very beginning and still can't get it to work. Don't make the mistake we made by buying this product.

You must follow EXACTLY the order of installation. If you don't, then the system doesn't work, and you can't even uninstall it completely to re-install. We had to use a different computer because of that (by the way, every time you re-install the software, you have to call and pay another $50 to re-activate the system). Now we've had the system for over a year, and after an innocent Windows update, the software began to crash. It will not enroll new fingerprints. It takes more than 3 minutes for the touch station to give back a response after an employee scans his fingerprint. Now the database is corrupted. If you email tech support, you will NOT receive an answer back. I was a software programmer and I can say very reponsibly that the way Lathem designed the software is loose and primitive.

Do not waste your money. We have 12 employees and it often doesn't work. Clocks wrong employees out. Doesn't read fingers. We tried to get help from Lathem and because we didn't buy it from Lathem direct they would not help.

i see the negative reviews here, but i noticed they were all from two years ago or so. maybe some issue with the product has been fixed?the fingerprint clock has worked great for our small company. we had to call the helpline once to get it working right, [...]had it installed within a hour or so. i'm also not much of a computer person, so my payroll admin did most of the work!since having this, it has made our time tracking and payroll alot easier. the timeclock software is easy for her to understand and it allows her to cut checks quicker.overall, i'm pleased as long as she is. the payroll admin is my wife!
