I am using my printer to put together an Art portfolio, and need to print out several images in photo quality on photo paper. The images come out pretty good but the cost of the ink is nearly the cost of a new printer, about 30$ per month.

I don't have a clue why you need this cartridge. I have not ever seen that it gets used in the photo printing process. If my color cartridge is out of ink and I put this cartridge in to print photos, the photos come out faded and blah, as if the color cartridge is the one that is being used to print the photo with. So, when does this cartridge get used? and if not when printing photos, why bother to spend the extra for the cartridge? I don't think that I am doing anything wrong, I have tried many different ways to print photos, while this cartridge is in my printer, always the same results, like I'm using an almost empty cartridge and I know I am not, I have purchased two of these cartridges and the same result with both. Don't bother buying this one, just print your photos using your color and black cartridge, they do an excellent job, no extra expense in purchasing this cartridge is neccessary. IMO
Comments about Lexmark 31 (18C0031) Photo Ink Cartridge:
These cartridges are very hard to find. I bought my printer in Canada but need to purchase 2, 3, & 31 ink here & very few carry it. I can only find the 31 online with Staples currently. I would love to be able to buy it in store!!
Comments about Lexmark 31 (18C0031) Photo Ink Cartridge:
I appeared that Staples did not plan to stock the #31 cartridge because there was no vacant slot tagged for this product (according to the clerk). In the past I purchased this product at Staples. I was suggested by the clerk that I might want to buy a new printer. (My printer - Lexmark P6250)My special order cost about $6.00 per item more than off the shelf at the store.Con't recommend if supply not there.
Color photo ink cartridges produce black by mixing colors, so that produce fewer black & white photos than photo cartridge that is filled with black ink.

Q:
I purchased this item for my multi machine X8350 - some time ago - have tried to use it but the machine won't accept it - This morn I noticed that this cartridge is SMALLER the the color 35 I am presently using . Any explanation for me - the charts says it should match!
