When I was first introduced to these "high yield" cartridges, I must say that I was very impressed. They performed on at least the same level & lasted much longer than my previous cartridges. So much so, I packed up my old printer (also Lexmark) and put it in storage. But as of late, I haven't been as enthusiastic about the product.

Even after alignment and cleaning, documents/prints are sometimes streaked. I printed 80 sheets containing full-color graphics; half were streaked and half were normal, but the printing pattern was erratic and unpredictable. After a week of printing far fewer than the advertised 450 sheets (closer to 260), my printer said the color cartridge was empty.

I don't think my printing habits have changed all that much since first using this product (less than two years ago). I actually increased my b&w output and lowered the number of color prints, but my print count seems to be dropping with each set of cartridges I purchase.

The ink is great just be really careful about stacking pictures too soon. Or getting them face to face even a long time after printing. I have ruined several that way!!! Really a waste of ink AND time then!!!
The multi pack is of course the best deal but we tend to use more color and have several black cartridges left on the shelf so is it the best deal after all?
Staples puts reams of paper on really good sales and even free with rebate offers so we have a lot of paper to use that pricey ink with!!

The cartridges are very inconsistent. Some last longer than others given the same amount of usage. I started to use the high yield 34 a couple of years ago and the current product does not appear to render as much as it used to 2-3 years ago.
