Eats Toner Like It was Junk Food!

I thought I did my homework when I needed a replacement printer on short notice and decided on the Lexmark C543DN - but I failed to place enough weight on other's comments that it had high toner usage. That was an EXTREME UNDERSTATEMENT! I have a newsletter I print periodically at my expense for a ministry which with my older printer took, at most, 1.5 toner cartridges (per color - 5k pages per cartridge) with each newsletter. This printer has eaten through FOUR cartridges per color (2k pages per color) and I'm still not done! At this rate the newsletter will cost three times as much than with the old printer! DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER UNLESS ALL YOU DO IS PRINT OCCASIONALLY! I wish I could show you the mountain of empty cartridges I have by my desk!

This printer offers great output. BUT it's construction is lacking. We had it 2 years when the main circuit board failed. Replacing it was no more than fixing it. I am hopeful that we simply got a "lemon".

i had this printer less then 6 months & bought the extended warranty. the fuser (the part that fuses the toner to the paper)went bad. after several rounds going between staples and lexmark each telling me it was the other ones issue. i had to cut my losses (time is money!) and buy a new printer i think i'll try an HP this time! DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE unless you need an anchor for your boat or a wheel chock for your car

This is without a doubt the worst choice I've made in printers yet! I've spent 2x what I spent for the printer in cartridges in less than 1.5 years of operation..possibly 3x. Cartridge life is very short, they are very expensive, and nobody else can refill them. If you print a few times a month you might like this, if you're a business, it is a BAD choice costwise.

  It prints a single envelope at a time through the manual feeder. There is an optional $200 second tray that can be connected to the bottom of the printer with a 100 page multipurpose feeder that can be used for envelopes. I would think roughly 45 envelopes could be used with that. Envelopes are not supported through the paper trays.
