The Linksys 5-port Ethernet switch is designed for plug-and-play connectivity. Using the plug-and-play design, you can simply plug an Ethernet cable from a networkable device into an open port on the switch to have the switch configure the network to include the device, adjusting the port speed to the maximum transmission rate that the new device is capable of maintaining.
