Was having problems with my old router not reaching my new Smart T.V. for streaming on-line content like Netflix and Amazon. Even had a router extender in the family room but still was patchy range at best. Researched for a while and found the latest and fastest "Linksys WRT1900AC Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router by Linksys". According to the reviews this is the fasted router on the market today. I had some staples rewards and wanted to use them before they expired, so I went on-line and found the router I was looking for and was able to purchase. It arrived in the expected time frame and I decided to set it up. Set-up was preconfigured and rather easy so I had the new network up and running and within a few hours all of my devices set up on one or the other of it's network bands. I unhooked by extender and am happy to say I getting a strong and consistent signal now in the farthest corner of the house from the router and running full bore with my internet service. I recommend this router if you need speed and farther, consistent signal.

I purchased this router from Staples. com in August 2014. Before the 14 day return period expired, I returned the unit to Staples in Glen Ellyn, IL for another one. The return was very easy (yes, the Staples slogan worked) and the staff in the store were great. Thought maybe it was just a defective unit. Well, it apparently is more than that. Unfortunately, I should have returned the second unit to Staples and got my cash back--but I thought the issues would go away. I replaced an aging Linksys router that worked fine, but I thought I would get the latest technology--801.ac and life would be better. Well, when it works, it does work well, but I have to reboot the router at least once a day to achieve the results I paid for. Without rebooting, the speed falls off dramatically, and sometimes I lose the ability to print on my home network. Normally, they work fine--and they always worked fine with my prior 6 year old Linksys router! So if you are willing to reboot the router daily--go for it. I have the latest firmware version and everything else, so it has to be the router. However, what is most troubling is I have submitted a review, consistent with this one, on the Linksys website. In fact, I submitted two of them, and neither review has been published. In short, it appears that Linksys is "screening" any reviews that are negative of its products. I used no bad language or the like so there is no reason not the publish at least one of the reviews. I used to really respect Linksys, but since they were purchased by Belkin from Cisco, things appear they have gone down hill. Sometimes when this router starts acting up, I install my old one--and life is good again. Based on reading users seeking help from the Linksys support team, I don't think I will waste my time calling them. So, I appear to own a $200+ router that will continue to need certain "babysitting" by me. How unfortunate!

All Great After 1st Week

Comments about Linksys WRT1900AC Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router:

Very happy with the improvement in all respects over my previous Netgear N600 3700. I'm an amateur at best but did the setup myself and it was painless. Its handled a desktop, laptop, Roku on TV and Pandora on phone at the same time with no noticeable slowdown.

Its wired directly to my desktop. I didn't expect much improvement because my previous router was also wired directly to it. However, the desktop is definitely working faster now.

The big improvement was on the laptop, which I attached a wireless AC adapter to. Incredibly faster, like a new computer. Also a Linksys product but I don't think it matters.

We use the Microsoft Office 365 (cloud version), and they play very well together. Word / Excel / One-Drive all working much smoother and faster now.

Appearance wise, its much bigger and takes up more space on my desk than a slim-line tower router, but it looks solid and strong, and I've grown to like the blue-and-black color. The performance displays on the front face are helpful. The increased performance is definitely worth the larger footprint.

I'm looking forward to even better performance as I replace my equipment with AC compatible items.

One thing to remember is to make sure you write down the router password during the installation because as far as I can tell its not otherwise written down anywhere. The network password is written down but not the router password if you want to change the settings etc.

Comments about Linksys WRT1900AC Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router:

I purchased this router to link iPad's to control the FOH and monitor functions on this digital mixer. We play in a multitude of large venues that will have their own WIFI systems that can interfere with lesser model routers. The two band feature of WRT1900AC guarantees an opening somewhere in the frequency spectrum. Set-up was really easy and I used my iPad to set all functions of the router. I have yet to experience a dropout and the range of the router will cover very large areas in and outdoors.

I'm looking forward to the future when computers and other devices run on the AC band for even better performance.

Good Wi-Fi range, speed, build quality

Comments about Linksys WRT1900AC Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router:

Retro sign, remind me of old linksys wrt 54g more than 10 years ago. 2.4 ghz range and speed on a par with netgear R7000 and R8000. 5 ghz range and speed it is better than netgear R7000 amd R8000 in my case, I can not alway get a full bar with netgear R7000 and R8000 just 3-4 feet away next room. with netgear r7000 and r8000 only get 3 bar or 2 bar with 5ghz. with linksys wrt1900ac get a full bar all the time. the front lights are dim, not bright as netgear r7000 and r8000.I used netgear r7000 for 4 moths, it is good router, but it has usb 3.0 port at front and has a huge power adapter, the lights at front are ignoring. For netgear r8000, it is also good router, but bulid quality is not good as linksys wrt1900ac. Netgear r8000 costs $299.99, you only get secound 5ghz band, it is not worth money. It also has many lights in middle of the router. I got linksys wrt 1900ac from staples.com when it was on sale for $174.99. it is good price compare another online and local retailers.
