I researched the heck out of what I was going to do to protect my new iPad, and I also wanted to consider KB solutions other than pairing one of my Apple wireless keyboards with it and lugging the things around separately.

I settled on this over several other good solutions because I like the matching finish, the minimal added weight and thickness, the ability to easily separate the KB from the iPad (when they are already parted and being used), and the keys are both fairly big for something this compact (though still smaller than I'm used to, but the adjustment was surprisingly easy). I also like the key action. Very snappy. I love having the shortcuts to volume, on/off, home, Spotlight, and so on. Handy.

Cons: The padded material around the inside edge of the case hold the iPad securely, but it also makes it more difficult to remove the iPad. I'm worried someday I will pull too hard and fling my iPad across the room. I'm generally accident-prone, though. You'll probably do fine. This isn't a real con, I guess, but there's one unused key that I'd like to at least be able to program myself to be a shortcut for something or to trigger another action.

Your mileage may vary, but I did a ridiculous amount of research before I ended up with this, *and* I am pretty happy with the results. Consider a Breve bag by Tom Bihn to finish the package. It's designed to carry an iPad and not much else. Total weight with iPad, KB case, bag, phone and charger is only about 4 lbs., tops.

There isn't much to choose from if you need a physical keyboard for iPad. This one is good and doubles as a case for storage. It's worst fault is the power connection. It has the same connection as a blackberry so many chargers will work but the solder joint to the board is weak. Mine broke after just 3 months. If you buy this, only charge it sparingly and don't charge it in the car where it is exposed to motion. All that tugging will eventually weaken the connection and you will lose the ability to charge it altogether. The good news is, it does not take much power. The battery lasts a long time between charges, although there is no meter to tell you when you are low.

Setup is a little tricky as you have to power on, goto bluetooth connections on iPad, click on the keyboard, then physically hit the button on the logitech keyboard for it to sync. AND after you've done that you may still have to touch the keyboard icon in the iPad before it actually begins accepting commands form the logitech. Once you become comfortable with this quirkiness you will be able to go back and forth easily.

There is no Backspace key, so they made the Delete key function as the Backspace. THere also is no PgUp/PgDn. If they had done away with the volume and playback buttons there would have been room for these. Until there is a better bluetooth keyboard meant primarily for business use, this will have to do.

I would only recommend this because there are so few choices and if you need a bluetooth keyboard for iPad, this is pretty much all there is.

A friend had the version of this for her original iPad and it seemed like a quality, functional accessory. So when I purchased my first iPad 2 I picked this up. It's sleek enough to not make it too bulky, provides decent protection to the iPad (especially the screen) when traveling, and adds nice functionality of a keyboard - without being cumbersome. Had no problem getting it to immediated connect to the iPad. [...]

Comments about Logitech Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard and Case for iPad 2:

At first looks like a very innovative product but I found that oftentimes linking to bluetooth when attached to the I-pad slow and not always reliable.

The keyboard which acts as a face cover when not in use is snug, but one has to be sure to align it over your the face of your I pad in the correct way, otherwise it will come loose with handling.

The biggest draw back is the very short chord used to connect via a USB port to another computer to charge most inconvenient and easily misplaced.

A better design would have been a complete clamshell case with a keyboard within and a universal charge USB cable rather than the hard to replace proprietary cable provided.
