I wanted to buy a high quality webcam to use with Skype chat so I was willing to spend the [$] at [...]. But this webcam in addition to providing a great quality image has great microphones. The party on the other side keeps saying that it sounds like we are in the same room. Also, if you set face recognition ON together with auto-focus and "follow me" modes, the result is that the camera zooms in and out automatically based on a composition. If my wife is using Skype and I join her in the middle of the conversation, the cam will zoom out to fit us both in the picture. If I move right or left, the cam will follow. If I try to get to the limit of the frame, the cam will zoom out to try and capture me. This is like having a live camera operator behind the camera. The above happens quite smoothly and is not annoying to the people on the other end. My only complaint is that the USB cable was about a foot too short. If you have a simple computer stand, it will be long enough, but if you have an elaborate desk where the cable will have to make some turns before it gets the the computer itself, you might need a USB extention. I did. Otherwise it's a great webcam!

Did not like the instructions - they were unclear and in fact misleading in places. Steps and pictures did not match what I saw on the screen as I did the install.
Did the install and then had to redo it because it didn't work.
Have not had a chance to actually use the thing yet - got it as Christmas gift.
Did not install extra features that came with it just want to use it with existing messaging software that I already use.

Very happy with this webcam; I set it up for my recently retired parents so I could video chat with them through our gmail accounts. A couple of things to note:

1) This webcam software installation requires SERVICE PACK 3 on your PC. My parent's machine had service pack 2, so I spent a couple hours upgrading their service pack using the Microsoft downloads/update site.

2) I skipped optional installation of the Logitech video-chat software that comes with the camera. I just loaded the camera and use gmail video chat.

3) Camera works great. Microphone picks up sound great, and low-light video is good. Recommended.

We use 2 of these cameras to monitor our dogs when we're out of the house. Used in conjunction with SKJM's ICamSource application available from the ITunes Store ($4.99) we're able to look in on our dogs anytime and anywhere with our IPhones. Fantastic video and audio.
