I got this mouse after returning the HP comfort mouse (Which was way too small for my huge hands). I researched a lot before I bought it, and this mouse is no doubt the best mouse for anyone (excluding the rare breed of people that use a mouse with there left hand). It is comfortable, convenient, and extremely functional! Just if anyone was wondering, unlike other laptop mice, this is a "full size mouse." It isn't in anyway as portable as a mini mouse, but the ergonomic feel displaces the cons. If you have the money, buy this mouse, you wont regret it. I used price grabber to price match it in store. It feels and works great. The built-in battery indicator does not display. The USB connection will not fit into the mouse without using excessive pressure pushing it in. I need to return and exchange. The connection is just not worth it. It really needs a drop in cradle for charging not a cable.

Comments about Logitech Performance Mouse MX:

The Logitech Performance Mouse MX is by far the best mouse I have ever owned! However I must admit it wasn't love at first click. This is actually my third one, since the first two were defective (left mouse button would stick on both right out of the box), but Staples was great about exchanging them, so no big deal. It was well worth the hassle and aggravation of having to make three trips to Staples.

So I got this one home and luckily it worked perfectly...and still does! I must admit that it took me a few days to get used to it, as it is a bit different from the corded mouse I was using, but once I stopped thinking about it and just used it, it finally "clicked" (pun intended). I wouldn't give this one up for anything. I will caution that if you don't have a big hand, it might not be comfortable for you as it is a fairly big mouse, but you'll have to try it out and see for yourself.

Anyway, what Logitech says about the tiny Unifying receiver is absolutely true...you just plug it in any available USB slot and forget about it. It fits in nice and tight, so no chance of it falling out. I haven't even thought about it since installing it and haven't removed it once. Also, the Darkfield laser technology really works great. I have used this mouse on many different surfaces-including glass-and none of them has been a problem. The scroll wheel is a work of art. It works in two different modes: free spinning or controlled spin (the button just behind the wheel toggles between free spin and controlled spin). I love using it in free spinning mode on really long web pages or database documents. It spins so smoothly too! And there's an area just under the thumb which when pressed allows you to view all your open documents/pages and switch between them (similar to Alt-Tab or the like). And it makes it easy to figure out what each window is because it puts a banner across each window with a description of the window contents. Definitely a cool little gizmo!

The battery included is a pretty good NiMH AA battery which will hold enough juice to run the mouse for several days for the average user (obviously your mileage may vary) before needing a recharge, and when it does just plug the included charging cord into the mouse and into any open USB slot and keep working while it charges. Logitech also includes an AC charger that you plug into any AC outlet and then plug the USB charging cord into that instead of into an open USB port on the computer, so they really thought of everything! Or if you really hate using a "corded" mouse (the charging cord plugs into the front of the mouse allowing you to continue to use the mouse while it charges, in essence turning it into a "corded" mouse temporarily), you could just keep a second fully charged battery standing by and swap them out when necessary. My only recommendation would be if you're a power user like me and use it non stop all day long, you might want to look into purchasing a couple of higher power AA NiMH batteries to replace the stock one with, and that way you can go longer between charges, and have an extra one charged and ready to go just in case (the stock one is about 2000mAh, so if you got one closer to 3000mAh like I did, you could theoretically go around 30% longer before needing to recharge it or swap batteries).

So I know some of you are asking "but is it worth paying $xxx for?" Well, my honest answer is YES, without a doubt. But if you are one of those people who say "no mouse is worth that much", then do what I did-wait for a sale! I bought it while it was on sale for $20 off and used my rewards from recycled ink cartridges, reducing my out of pocket $$ by another $30 and making it a great deal! But even if I had paid full boat I wouldn't be the least bit sorry because you absolutely get your money's worth with this baby! Nuff said! Now I can't wait to get the K350 wireless wave keyboard (works with same Unifying receiver for mouse, so no extra USB ports to use up!) to go along with this mouse!

Comments about Logitech Performance Mouse MX:

I am not the only one having this problem. On the Logitech boards there are users from all over the US that are having the same problem. The mouse goes to sleep after 30 seconds and it takes 3-5 seconds to wake it up. It turns out to be a firmware fault in the mouse affecting a large production run.

As a Mac user not everyone is satisfied with Apple's offerings when it comes to mice. I've been looking for a good mouse for a year now and I have finally found the best mouse for the Mac. I wanted to take advantage of my computers built-in bluetooth capabilities but I find that using the Logitech Unifying receiver makes the mouse more responsive. Hands down the best mouse out there right now.

Yes, using the software on the included CD or available for download from Logitech's website you have a wide variety of options for each button and can even make a key-mapping for each button. You can also change options for how the scroll wheel works and different sensitivity settings that can be changed on-the-fly.

You can also set it up to recognize different programs and program the different buttons to certain functions for each program. Very nice for gamers and professionals that need certain keystrokes or functions literally at their finger tips.
