    I bought the Logitech M525 to replace the clunky old wired mouse that came with my computer system. Prior to the M525 I had purchased the ubiquitous Logitech M310, but for some reason it gave me serious wrist fatigue within only a few minutes of using it, so back it went.

    The M525 is comfortable for extended periods of use. It has a nice, solid feel with comfortable rubber grips on the sides, and it glides smoothly on every surface I've used it on—including my leg! I especially love the scroll wheel on this mouse. It covers a lot of page with the slightest effort but it's still easy to control.

    In most cases you probably will not need to install any additional software, although Logitech has a download available on their website if you need it. I just plugged the tiny nano-receiver into a USB port on the front of my computer and was good to go. The thing is so tiny it's practically invisible. If you need to travel with your mouse, the receiver can be stored inside the battery compartment. The M525 utilizes an invisible infra-red laser—no distracting red glow in a dark room. There's also an on/off switch to conserve the batteries.

    Overall this is a great mouse for productivity and web surfing, though gamers will probably want to stick with an optical mouse. My only complaint with the M525 is that it comes in a limited range of colors and they are all pretty sedate. Other than that, it's perfect!

    The M525 mouse was very comfortable to use, but it worked only a week before the unifying receiver stopped working. When I called Logitech support and described the problem, they immediately offered to send a replacement receiver. The product deserves only 1 star, but I gave 2 stars because of the very helpful tech support. I was looking for a wireless mouse with a small receiver that I could leave in my laptop at all times, but it looks like the receiver that comes with the M525 isn't rugged enough to remain in a laptop that moves around from meeting to meeting and carried home every night.

        The M525 moves the cursor so much easier than the sometimes super sensitive touchpad on our new Lenovo. The USB plug in chip is almost imperceptible & can be stored easily inside the mouse. Scroll wheel does its job just fine, too. Have not looked into the wheel's tilt control function yet.

          The unifying transmitter requires software application that must be downloaded, if you want to use a single transmitter with multiple devices. It takes time and a few steps. It doesn't happen by itself. One wouldn't expect Logitech to scare away potential customers unnecessarily. However, if no software disk is going to be included, you would think there would be instructions to go to the URL and download it. I called for support and found the solution rather effortlessly, in any case.
