Comments about MAGIX Video Pro X4 for Windows (1-User) [Download]:

This product is targeted for the professional market, which is why it seems expensive. However, if you check equivalent professional products, you'll see this MVP X4 is actually a very good value.

I have the Boxed version of MPV X4, but I typically use download versions for Magix software purchases since, to my knowledge, there isn't a difference once the product is installed. The boxed version also comes with a printed manual, which is a great read, but the same manual is available as a PDF file in the Magix folder after the program is installed. I would guess the download version includes the same PDF version of the manual; an absolute must-read; it made getting started in MVP X4 way quicker for me.

If you want to know more about the actual technology and features of MVP X4, just read any review on MEP 17 or greater, it's pretty much all the same, except MVP X4 is like MEP on steroids. The robustness of MVP X4 to run complex projects without crashing, glitching, and behaving in ways that cause one to utter words one would never say in mixed company is worth the money for professionals doing 1 or 2 hour films with complex edits, transitions, effects, etc.

MVP X4 has two monitor screens. The value of this wasn't clear until I actually started working on my projects. Being able to view photos, movies, effects, etc. in the second screen is an amazing benefit. I quickly got spoiled and dependent on that second screen.

MVP X4 can also be used to make those photo/video combination projects with music in the background. It's quick and easy to create the moving camera effects on photos and even videos. Great transitions between photos are provided with the product.

Another great idea is the Project Folder. All project objects (photos, music files, movie clips, etc.) can get pulled into that Project Folder, which means after you locate a bunch of objects to be potentially used in the project, you never have to hunt for them again. Also, if you have an edited clip (for example) that you want temporarily removed from the project, but not lost, just drag it into the Project Folder to be grabbed back later.

The Timeline Mode interface has the items you will click the most in obvious and logical locations, even on a large monitor with tons of desktop space. It's a pleasure to use.

The sound track features are robust and include everything you need to record and edit your sound track, including a virtual mixer and mastering suite. To be honest, however, if you want to actually create a multichannel music project, while it can be done in MVP X4, you would be better served to create that in Magix Samplitude Music Studio and then import the finished product into MVP X4.

Lastly, if you've not purchased and used a Magix program in the last several years, you don't know about their customer support. I've only needed to contact Magix directly a few times and always got contacted back very quickly and the support was great. Better yet, Magix programs are used around the world and there are numerous user based support sites and user groups that are easily found online. This includes Magix's own support site, which is free to register and use. I typically find whatever answer I'm looking for using those resources rather than going to Magix support directly.
