This file cabinet is being used in a home-based office. Unfortunately, there is really nothing great about it, other than a reasonable price for a lateral file cabinet. It's not sturdy. The lock is not terribly secure, the drawers don't open smoothly, and I had to stick a piece of cardboard under it to level it...the level mechanism isn't worth the effort. Overall, I guess I wish I had gone up a bit in price to find something a bit better.

If you need extra storage and are on a tight budget, this is worth a look. Construction is OK, look is OK, price is A-OK. Main problem is that no load bars are provided so the cabinet can tip if you open the top drawer all the way. This is the only downside and it can be a big one if you have unequal loads. Not safe around children!

I have allergies and multiple chemical sensitivities, so I use this cabinet for clothing - as a dresser because of allergies to wood products and finishes etc. It works wonderfully for this as there is no odor to transfer to clothing or to out-gas into the environment.

I HAVE A SECOND BEDROOM WHICH I ALSO USE AS AN OFFICE. HAD A FIVE DRAWER CABINET THAT TOOK UP A LOT OF FLOOR SPACE WHICH THIS LATERAL DOESN'T. ALSO USE IT AS MY TV STAND. NEED TO BE CAREFUL THAT THE WEIGHT OF THE TOP DRAWER IS NOT MORE THAT THE BOTTOM DRAWER SO IT WON'T TIP.

  You can stack two of them on top of each other, but there is no mounting hardware to attach them. You would just stack them without hardware.
