I bought this to replace my 1GB iPod. I needed more space, a bigger screen, and video, all things that this provides.
The audio quality is high but the earphones it comes with are cheap, so you will need other ones. It also has a decent built-in speaker. The battery lasts very long and charges quickly. The screen isn't very bright even at the highest setting, but is fine in low light. It has a microSD slot so you can expand space. What I really like about that is, even if you don't have all of your collection at once, you can store parts of it on different cards, and just swap the cards out depending on your mood.
The button controls are not as intuitive as the iPod. I also miss the iPod's "hold" button which prevents you from accidentally pressing buttons. The device's software is a little bit sketchy, parts of it look like they were designed by an 8 year old. It's also hard to switch from an iPod since iTunes can't sync my music anymore. Windows Media Player can but for Apple users it won't be very convenient.
Bottom line: I'm not in love with the product like I was when I first got my iPod, but I am satisfied, and it's nice to have a product which has comparable features for a much lower price.

I got this as an early Christmas gift. It was the only FLV player we could find for a decent price. It works OK as such, but it has a very short battery life when it comes to playing videos...about 1.5 hours at most. This is not good for people like me who watch full length 30 to 60 minute eps of shows in FLV format.
Additionally, the buttons have a tendency to not respond to touch. They worked well for about the first week, but after frequent use they started to not respond as well.
I do not know how it works as an MP3 player, as I have a different player for those and only use it to play FLV files.
Overall, it's a good product, but recommended only for light use when it comes to playing videos.

Amazing sound quality and very good price at Staples store. Trio name, sound is not familiar like Apple Ipod and other favourite company brand, but pricewise this is a best product to buy for cost sensitive cruel market crisis. I like it..... What about you.....
This MP3 player is a great bargain for the price. It has large capacity memory, can play music, videos, ebooks, store photos and has a large screen. It is sleek and compact and the sound is terrific. I don't regret getting it and am glad that I didn't spend more $$$ on an iPod.
First one I bought at staples, the on/off button doesn't work, and mp3 player is not recognized by my PC, like other mp3 players. Returned it, got another V430 off/on button works, but still not recognized by PC when plugged into USB cable, whereas microSD chip is easily recognized by PC when inserted into USB slot. So I have to upload content thru the microSD chip and not into the intrinsic 4GB memory of the player itself. Might still consider returning the unit. Player should be immediately recognized by the PC when plugged into USB slot, this model doesn't do that.
