NOT easy to assemble

The assembly was not easy. The directions were clear enough but:
1. There are 17 wooden pieces, two metal pieces, and 103 fittings!

The assembly was not easy. The directions were clear enough but:
1. There are 17 wooden pieces, two metal pieces, and 103 fittings!
2. When they see check that you have all the pieces when you unload the box, they mean it!
Instead of have a left side and a right side I had two right side pieces. At first, they look the same. They are the same size and shape with tracks for metal sliders on them. However, they are mirror images of each other. I had to call the company to order a NEW left side piece (and at this price, you shouldn't have to do that kind of thing). After I received the piece it did NOT have the metal tracks pre-installed (as the original would have). Luckily, I had my duplicate right side piece still. I removed the tracks from that and installed them on my new wooden piece. Finally I could finish assembly!
3. Assembly was time-intensive. Hours.

The drawers "stick" a little near the end. They are mostly closed but to give a nice appearance (flat) to the front they have to be pushed extra to close. The top shelf has more trouble than the bottom. This may be a problem with having to re-assemble the metal tracks because I don't remember the floor model in the store having that problem.

Two weeks later, I have a beautiful (but not as nice as the one in the store) accessory.

Worth the price? Probably not. The sale helps but a price of about $99 is what it'd be worth once you factor in all the hassle and assembly woes.

I was surprised that the file required so much assembly. I had purchased the matching desk earlier and it was amazingly easy to assemble - all you had to do is screw on the legs!! The file was not so easy - not one piece was pre-assembled. I don't know why they put "easy to assemble on the box!!

I made the mistake of not paying attention to the reviews here. I dismissed all that said that this is difficult to assembly. Hmmm, perhaps they are not as good as me at assembling things, I thought. No. I was wrong. This one is not only difficult to assembly. It is impossible to assembly because they ship the box incomplete. Mine is missing several parts. It was bought as a surprise gift for someone coming on Tuesday. Surprise is gone. They will be here and find an ugly box with many useless parts. Sad. So far I have been unable to contact the company to get the parts. So, the vendor wants no trouble, and the manufacturer doesn't respond.

Don't waste your money. Buy another brand.

I got all the 3 units that comprise the Martha Stewart Blair Line in Walnut Brown (desk, file cab & chair).
I found the units very nice & well constructed.
I wish they should have used lockable front casters (e.g. the file cab gets heavy when you start filling them up with files, so closing the file cab pushes the cab backward!)

It was not hard to put together---just very time consuming. I thought it was very pricey (!!!) for something you have to put together yourself. It looks nice, but I was disappointed to find that the drawers stick and are hard to open and close.
