I am surprised that Staples not only sold this non-working software but simply said could not provide any technical support. Told to contact Mcafee and when contacted Mcafee support, they indicated that my PC (windows 7) is having some viruses already due to which it is not allowing the software to be installed (I believe that is totally wrong and they were trying to sell me something). They then offered me a protection package of $180 which I declined. I went to mcafee.com site which by the way is not helpful and registered to see if this purchase would show up as indicated by one of the reviews here. But I ended doing something that gave me 2 month trial of mcafee antivirus plus vs the macfee 2012 total protection purchased item from staples. I am totally tired, dissatisfied with this product and the staples. I was able to install this free 2 month mcafee antivirus with no issues which negates the mcafee tech support comment that 2012 total protection is not installing due to my PC issues. I will just avail my mail-in rebate now and never buy any software from staples again.

The installation process was not explained and required help from McAfee tech support. Staples should offer better installation instructions upon receipt of your purchase email. Contacted Staples for help and they could not answer the questions, but referred me to the McAfee call center. Online help was just as helpful and very fast. Kudos the McAfee's online chat help!!!
- You must go to McAfee and create an account using the same email that you purcahsed the software with.
- Your license will be listed under MY Products
- Enter you Key Code and proceed from there with the download process.
1. In the Download / Install column, beside the product you want to install, click Download.
2. Click the Download button to begin the download / install process.
3. When prompted with the File Download - Security Warning for DMSetup.exe, click Run.
4. When prompted with the Internet Explorer Security Warning, click Run again.
5. You might be prompted to log in to a McAfee Security Center window. Use the same email address and password that you used above.
6. Select the McAfee consumer product you want to install.
7. After the download process completes, on the Options screen, click Next..
8. After the installation has completed, click Finish. Restart your computer.
