Bought in Discount area [...]. Also believe this is a closeout item. The basic operations of this drive is fine. I wanted to experiment with the LightScribe feature to see if it is a bad (SLOW), as I have heard. It is! But I believe this is for all Brands, not just Memorex. Overall, this is a good replacement or upgrade for older units and if you can get it cheap like I did, it is a good value!

Comments about Imation Memorex™ 24x Internal SATA DVD drive:

Flawlessly plays & burns cd's without all the problems that my old CD-DVD burner had. If your computer just has IDE, get an SATA to PCI card. My computer had both but the SATA RAID controller was turned off in BIOS. Had to find a driver for my motherboard RAID controller and wow, I'm really happy with this drive. Don't use the SATA to IDE addaptors, they don't work.
