I use the product to back up my personal VHS tape collection that I am trying to get rid of because i am downsizing my living space. The great thing about these DVDs is I can burn my own labels on them. What's not so great about them is that there is always some bad cookies in the bunch and I end up wasting 3 or 4 per bunch.

Using this product to produce videos of family photos and music. New to the process of LightScribe. So far not too impressed with the quality of label maker and the difficulty of burning to DVD. I don't have this problem with the standard DVD burning process with other brands.
Comments about Memorex™ 25/Pack 4.7GB DVD+R Cool Colors LightScribe, Spindle:
Lightscibe dvd colors dont always have best picture quality especially if pictures are colored too. Overall good product though. I would definietly buy again.
Comments about Memorex™ 25/Pack 4.7GB DVD+R Cool Colors LightScribe, Spindle:
Lightscribe technology permits creation of professional quality laser-written permanent media labels. Cool Colors let you choose a media color to enhance the appearance of a product or locate an important set of DVDs by their unique color. A DVD in a pile is like any other DVD unless it is a Cool Color.
The lightscribe burner is not required. You can use that only if you want to print on the top of the disc. This can be used to store computer data.

No, you don't have to have light scribe equip. to use for backup purposes.

You only need light scribe equipment if you are going to use it to label the disk. I used lightscribe to make neat, professional labels, however, for your own use, it is much faster to write on the disk with a "Sharpie" marker. You can certainly copy data onto these disks with non-lightscribe equipment.
