Q: Is printable the same as lightscribe or can they only be used in a printer? Asked on 9/2/2011 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: "No, lightscribe is a different technology and uses a different surface so that the burner itself can inscribe or burn the image to the disk. These particular Memorex CD's are made to be printed on by an ink jet printer exclusively. For the Lightscribe special discs and a compatible disc writer are required." Q: what is the difference between cd-r and cd-rw? I can't save anything on the Staples cd-rw discs but I can on the memorex cd-r disc. Asked on 4/20/2010 by Patty from Wilmington, DE Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: CD-R will allow you to write to the disk one time. CD-RW will allow you to write to the disk multiple times. Answered on 4/29/2010 by Customer Care from Staples A: The difference is that CD-RW disks are rewriteable, which means you can delete all the data on them and write new data, whereas CD-R disks are write once only. It may be that your CD drive is not CD-RW compatible, but that would mean that it's an old, old drive. Try a different brand of CD-RW disks if you need to, otherwise if you don't need rewrite then stick w/ CD-R. Answered on 5/18/2010 by Midnight Music Maven from Los Angeles, CA
