Now available in faster 8X write speed, Memorex DVD+R Double Layer media stores up to 8.5GB of data files and approximately 240 minutes of video (SP mode) on a single disc as compared to 4.7GB on a single layer disc. I spend a lot of time converting VHS videos onto DVDs and since some of these tapes are several hours long I needed a recordable that could handle the load. These DVD+R disks can handle around four hours of media. Before you buy these little gems you better check your unit to make sure it can handle this type of disk.

As I stated, these work great, but are way too expensive. [$] for 5 discs means they are [$] each. I realize they come with cases, but I didn't even need the cases. Why not give the option of purchasing without the cases so it's cheaper? The only reason I got them at staples was it was the closest place to me that had them. Maybe if they sold a larger amount at once, they could charge less per disc (i.e.-most places sell them in 20 packs or larger for between $25 and $30). I later found I could purchase these from [@] much cheaper as I got a 20-pack of verbatim discs for $25 with free shipping online. Make them cheaper and you will have a customer for life!

First time buying a DL DVD+R. Picked up the Memorex one bc it was the smallest available package (containing 5 discs). It was also cheap. It takes up a lot of time burning to a DL DVD obviously bc it's twice as big as a normal DVD. Wasted hrs of my life I will never get back trying to burn a workable disc (I went through all five) but FAIL. Later, I find on several forums that Memorex DL DVD+R discs are not compatible with Mac OS X. Don't waste your time. Sometimes, it pays to buy the more expensive brand. I ended up using Verbatim and it burned on the first try. But now I've wasted 5.49 w Memorex, hours of my life but yay, I've got 5 really lame coasters. There should be a disclaimer on the package that says it is not Mac compatible.

To store home video and pictures. I love the fact that i can store 8 gig on them. I coldnt find anything wrong with them but they won't play on my laptop.
