                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

There are no significant differences between DVD–R and DVD+R. Currently there is no single standard for recordable DVDs. Most manufacturers today offer multi-format DVD burners compatible with multiple DVD formats. Please check the format of your CD/DVD burner to know which one will meet your needs.

                What is the difference between a DVD-R & a DVD+R???
Asked on 9/25/2011 by Marv from Ypsilanti

                1 answer

                • A:

The difference is the format that both use to record information. Generally the DVD+R is considered the more reliable technology but no clear industry standard has been agreed upon. The two formats are not compatible and you need to ensure your DVD recorder will handle the format you are using. Most of the newer DVD recorders can use either format.
