I have used Memorex CDR's in the past to record music and other things on, and I never had a problem with them before. I usually use whatever CDR's are on sale. I have never had a problem with any brand that I've used, and I have used at least five brands besides Memorex.
Recently I purchased the 50 pack Memorex CDR's because they were on sale. I went through several of these discs, trying to record some songs on them to play in my car. (Thought it was about time to change the CD's in my car). At first I tried copying to this disc from iTunes. iTunes would begin burning the disc, but stop partway through the first track. An error message came up, and the computer spit out the disc.
I then tried burning a playlist from Windows Media, and it refused to burn the disc. I tried opening the CD drive from My Computer and burning files to the disc that way. This did not work either. (The computer told me to insert a blank disc. It was like it did not recognize it as a blank disc, even though the discs that I tried were all blank).
I decided to right click on the disc in My Computer and view the disc properties. When I did this, I discovered that this disc showed 0 bytes of free space and 0 bytes of used space. I went through and I checked all 50 discs, and they all showed 0 bytes.
I know that the problem is not my burner because I had one HP disc left over from the last pack of CDR's that I used. I tried that one, and it worked fine.
All 50 discs were junk. Even though I had never had a problem with Memorex before, I don't think I'm ever going to buy CD's by that brand again.
Comments about Memorex™ 50/Pack 700MB CD-R, Spindle:
I tried to download photos as I was told by employee that these were best for that. Very slow burn time.(over 2 hrs!) I used another from a friend and it took me less than 5 min.!!
