1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Additional requirements to use certain features:

Internet access (fees may apply)
Depending on resolution, video playback may require additional memory and advanced graphics hardware
For some Windows Media Center functionality a TV tuner and additional hardware may be required
Windows Touch and Tablet PCs require specific hardware
HomeGroup requires a network and PCs running Windows 7

BitLocker requires Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2
BitLocker To Go requires a USB flash drive

I was happy with Vista Ultimate, but I have a great deal of data and applications, including extensive development software, and had a snafu requiring the original disks which I had "buried" somewhere. I took the opportunity to upgrade to W7 Ultimate for my birthday. It was an immediate performance improvement. I should have done it a year ago, but I had been waiting for Windows 8 to upgrade both PC and OS.

W7U has breathed new life into my current Lenovo X61 from 2007. I plan to upgrade hardware when Windows 8 is released. I recommend Windows 7 for anyone with an existing PC.

I upgraded from XP-Pro. and did not find it very easy to do the upgade. In my case, you had to start over. Except for your mail system, that you could migrate over. Win-7 does not play well with non-Win-7 computers on your home network. With XP-pro, evey system on my network could get to every other system and use their data files. Win-7 will not let non-win-7 system get to it's data, except in the "Public" directories. If you do not plan to upgade all computers on your home network and you want/need access back and forth, then you will have problems and will need to change your process.

  The upgrade version of Windows 7 Ultimate does come with a product key for activation and installation. Note that the software does check to see if the version of Windows you are upgrading is legal, is not it will not complete the upgrade.

Q:
So, if I create 6 partitions on my 600GB hard drive - resulting in each partition having 100GB of space - can I install this 6 times on the PC by using a single key for all 6 partition installs?

Or am I required to purchase 2 copies to get a total of 6 product keys, and use a separate key for each partition?

  I have the same question, and have read in several places, UK and US, that if purchasing the Upgrade, we can install on 3 computers. I've not been able to find anything about such if buying the full version.
