I have a metal desk with the PC on the floor beside it. The cursor tends to stutter rather than move smoothly when all that metal is blocking it. I moved the PC to protrude a little in front of the desk, and that fixed the problem. (The USB wireless is in a port at the front top of my PC. That's what needs to be unblocked.)
There is an on/off button, to prolong battery life. I like this. I have a reminder taped to the door of my office to turn off the mouse, and sometimes I see it on the way out.

Save your money...

Compared with my Logitech mouse, this one makes a rather loud clicking sound and I would not recommend using this late at night! The tracking is accurate though, and it works on all the surface I've tried (though not well), but the battery goes out in a month instead of the several months it promises. So at best, it is for normal or light use.

This mouse is inferior to the Logitech M305, even though the Logitech is not much more expensive during a sale. The MS one is much slower, more uncomfortable and doesn't glide as well on the same surfaces.

Bought this as a temporary mouse as I broke my MX Revoution. Its a good travel mouse but I wouldn't use daily. I find that it doesn't work well on lighter colored surfaces. The tracking get jumpy and skips a lot. I also don't believe that mouse will last long under heavy use. I've had the mouse axp 3 days now and it has started squeaking when clicked. I am a heavy user though with about 8 hours a day usage. Will be buying a MX again as it was a awesome mouse that lasted me almost 5 years of very heavy usage with no problems.

when playing games and clicking quickly, it begins to get caught and not click proberly, like it is dragging or hanging on something. Am on my 2nd one (returned the 1st one due to this problem). Still experiencing it with this one.

  Yes. I have one for my home laptop and one for my work laptop. It was not necessary to have two (could have used the same one for each laptop), but it was more convenient for me to have two. There's a USB "transponder" (for lack of better word) that just pops into one of the USB ports on the laptop, pop the battery into the mouse, turn it on and you're ready to go!
