I love the sleek smaller design of the USB plug-in. My old Microsoft mouse had a USB plug in that stuck out on the side of my computer over an inch and we were always bumping it. Sometimes this interfered with the mouse performance plus it risked damaging the USB port on my computer. The new one stores more compactly in the bottom of the mouse for travel- but more importantly- it barely sticks out of the USB port on my computer so it never gets bumped. **Great improvement Microsoft! This mouse is comfortable, good looking and responsive as well. The red color is very sharp- it's a dark metallic red that's not too bright for my taste and has kind of a satin sheen to it.

I had high hopes for this mouse. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to its promise. Although the packaging states battery life can last 8 or more months. I had to replace the batteries after only a couple of weeks (even though I turned it off overnight). It loses its "connection" with the bluetooth USB part of the device on a regular basis, causing the mouse to lose accuracy or stop moving altogether. I'm now looking to replace this mouse.

I had purchased 3 of the same model last year for Christmas. I loved how quiet the mouse was. My husband got a laptop and likes to use it in bed-purchased the above red 4000 and it was "clicky" when he used it and disturbed me when I tried to go to sleep. I ended up giving him MINE so it would be silent. Now I have the red clicky mouse. Hopefully, this was a fluke and the next mouse will be quiet.

  How far away are you talking about? I just tried it at about 12 feet, and it is still responding, hard to manipulate because at that range because I can barely make out the cursor, but the icons are clearly reflecting being hovered over. I positioned the mouse close up over an app, walked 12 feet away, and clicked. The app opened. I have a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 5000.
