The range is not 22 miles...it is only 2 miles.
It is great when the kids are outside or at a friends house. I can use the walkie talkie to talk to them.

Very satisfied with the radios. Not sure how far they will get reception but they work great in the neighborhood and camping which is what we purchased them for. Rugged and durable for the kids to use. A charger instead of batteries a real plus.
