Does what it says it will do

I'm happy with it.Voice is clear no complaints from callers.I found I could keep my phone sealed and get calls. listen to sports radio while I'm at the beach or in the truck.

I purchased this device from Staples as a Christmas present for my wife. On x-mass day, we un-boxed the product and gave it a good charge. After a few hours, we went to test it out. The phone (Samsung Epic 4g Touch) paired perfectly. However, the FM transmitter functionality was completely non-working. I called the support number, and the support representative dutifully ran down her checklist ... nothing worked. I was told to bring it back to the store for exchange.

A few days later, I exchanged the device, and the replacement unit appeared to work fine. Call quality was good, and the FM functionality worked well for routing call and music audio to the car stereo. The auto-search feature for finding empty stations isn't very good. Very often I'd tune to the directed station, and find my signal being stepped on by an existing broadcast. After a bit of fiddling, you'll eventually find a clear channel. When that happens audio quality is pretty good. My wife used the device for the better part of the week, and for the most-part it worked just fine. ...but then it started acting up. It would be slow to "wake up" and pair every now and then. And then today ... it just wouldn't wake up despite having a full charge. Even flipping the power switch on-and-off had no effect. It had worked perfectly just a few hours before ... and then nothing.

So ... I called customer support Sunday, Jan 6 sometime after 6:30PM EST. The representative had me try a few trouble-shooting steps, but then agreed that I had (yet another) defective unit and we started putting together an RMA. He took some very basic information from me, and then put me on hold. After about 5-minutes on hold, he comes back and tells me they're "having trouble with their systems" and asked if he could "call back in 5 minutes." I made sure he had my phone number correct, hung up and went about my business. At about 7:10pm EST, I realized I had never received my call-back, so I called in myself ... only to be greeted by a recording stating that they were now closed for the night. I guess Mr. Indian Accent didn't want to deal with my RMA so close to quitting time, so he just blew me off. I'm sitting here steaming as I write this ... hopefully they'll take care of me tomorrow.

PROS: (when the device works)
- Pairs quickly and easily
- Call quality and noise cancellation is good.
- FM functionality routs sounds to the car speakers via the radio.

CONS:
- Apparently terrible quality control - Two consecutive faulty units
- Frequency finder isn't really good at finding empty frequencies for the FM tuner
- Customer Service reps are lazy, which wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that they ship poor quality products.

Purchased on 3/2/13 and while it seemed to work quite well, as of today, 3/25/13, that was no longer the case. It's dead. Oh and as a side bar, we also had to have one of our cable boxes swapped out today - another Motorola product. It had died as well

Motorola only guarantees compatibility with other Motorola products, but it uses standard Bluetooth 2.1 so should be compatible with any Bluetooth device.

Does my car stereo have to have Bluetooth for this to work, or just my cell phone? I have an iPhone 5, will it work with it?

There is no Bluetooth needed. Unfortunately this is only compatible with a Motorola tz700.

                Thank you. D.S.
Asked on 7/6/2012 by Dawn from Deerfield Beach, FL

                1 answer

                • A:

Motorola only officially guarantees compatibility with other Motorola products, but the TZ700 is a standard Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR device which should be compatible with your Incognito phone.

The speakerphone is designed to clip to your car's overhead visor with the spring clips on the back. It's battery powered with 3 weeks standby and 20 hours talk time, so you do not need to plug it in while it is in use; you plug it in when you're not using it.
