I bought this router because it was labeled as effective for large houses with lots of devices. I was having trouble trying to use my devices anywhere but within clear view of the router I had before. I live in an old, large, convoluted house with a large yard. With this router, I can use the web outside, upstairs, out in the attached apartment: play, watch videos, post videos, whatever. I don't have to worry about getting a dropped signal, or a slow connection. Works like a dream! I have Comcast internet, so extreme speed now that I have a fast, effective router. I love it. Just what I needed. We have a lot of devices sending and receiving signals, and everything works beautifully.

Tried this router after having connection problems with netgear wdr4300. Many hours spent trying to configure it to no avail so tried the R6100 which worked well except the wired Ethernet ports are only 100mb/s. The staples specification displayed is incorrect. The USB port worked well with a printer attached and the connection was reliable. The R6100 is a decent router if you don't need high performance to wired server or an ISP. Much more stable than the Netgear R6300 (connections issues plus printer connection was unreliable) and the R6250 ( Was better than the 6300 but no indicator light when the printer was plugged in but seamed to work but still connections issues) which I also tried. Spend a lot of time trying to configure both of those as well. Netgear really needs to get their act together and get the bugs out of their firmware and hardware. I was going to go back and get another R6100 and live with the 100mb ports but instead I purchased a RT-AC68R which blows all the above out of the water. I have at least 10 devices attached including cable modem, PC's, PS3, Xbox, tablets, phones, TV's, printers and hard drives all using one of the following 802.11G, 802.11N and 802.11AC, hard wired and USB. If you're not this intense get the 6100 if you are get the RT-AC68R

Comments about NETGEAR AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Router R6100-100NAS:

I like the included Netgear Genie set up software. Within minutes I had this router up and running with no issues. I like the feature that allows you to connect a USB hard drive that can be accessed across the network.

After about a month of use I have no complaints.

Great WiFi, Easy installation

Comments about NETGEAR AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Router R6100-100NAS:

My husband and I had an older NetGear WiFi router that was causing some trouble after 5+ years. Most likely it was still good but we are not great with technology. We bought this upgraded version and it was so easy to install. Not only that but we have a 100+ year old stone house with thick stone walls throughout; and the WiFi reaches everywhere. We have several WiFi devices (smart phones, PS3, Kindle Fire, laptop, desktop, X-box, Roku) and no matter what or how many devices are connected, it works great!

Comments about NETGEAR AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Router R6100-100NAS:

Mixed feelings about this product. When it is working I have no issues. However, the issue is that the network frequently drops. I will be on the computer and suddenly a message will come up, connection lost. Very frustrating! Have used NETGEAR products in the past and have had no issues.
I am on the fence about this one.

Netgear AC Router

By Kansas Beachboy

Comments about NETGEAR AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Router R6100-100NAS:

I purchased the Netgear AC1200 router to replace a six year old Belkin G band wireless router. I wanted a router that would better mesh with not only my laptop, but also a wireless printer and an ethernet-enabled Blu-Ray player. I was undecided whether to purchase a Netgear N gigabit router or this AC model, which were both priced the same. The Staples sales associate felt this model would provide the best wireless range, which was my primary concern.

I am an older guy, and just barely "adequate" when it comes to installing new tech. I know the internet people who installed my previous router had quite a bit of trouble setting it up, so I was a bit nervous about setting up this AC router on my own. However, the installation was literally "plug and play" and installation went very smoothly and easily. My only issue concerned the compatability of the Netgear Genie app with my Vista operating system. I don't know if it was due to my particular computer or what, but I had issues with the computer refusing to stay in sleep mode after installing the Genie app. I uninstalled the app, and everything was fine after that. Netgear still allows you to get into the Genie app via a couple of keystrokes, so it's not an inconvenience to not have the app permanently installed on my computer. Other than this minor glitch, the install went off perfectly. I will say, this router is providing a noticeably stronger wireless signal than my old G MIMO router. I'd recommend Netgear routers without hesitation.
