Living in a four story house makes it a bit difficult to get Wi-Fi on all floors from a single router. I work a lot in a small office on the top floor and would lose the Wi-Fi signal at least every hour. I ordered this Range Extender and got it delivered quickly. Setup was very simple, especially pairing it with my Netgear router, took about 10 minutes following the simple instructions for set up. I now get 5 bars on my PC, tablet and wireless printer in my office and am so glad I got this product. It saves me so much time and frustration!

It should be noted that I was given this product free of charge to review.

This extender is what I needed. It gives me the coverage that I hadn't had and desired for a long time. With my current wireless router, I am not always getting its signal or it is weak throughout my house when in another room. Using this extender I am able to see the new signals everywhere in the house and there are constantly on.

A couple of confusing thing that has kept me wondering is why on some devices I can see both signals (2.4 and 5GHz) and on other devices I can only see the 2.4GHz signal. Also, I don't understand why on the extender only the 2.4GHz light is on but the 5GHz is not on. I can get the 5GHz to light up at times but it is usually off. Strange, I can get that signal to show on the devices but it doesn't light up on the extender, making me think it wasn't really connecting as the wireless device shows. Again, why does it show I am connected on the 5GHz signal on my wireless device when the light on the extender is not lit??? Thus, I have spent countless frustrating hours trying to get both issues but still it won't work properly or as expected for me. The instructions for set up are supposed to be simple and easy to do. I am not naïve about setting up things but due to these questions of only being able to see one signal and not the other on some devices and the 5GHz light not going on I could not get this to work using the "simple instructions". If I didn't care about these two things the setup would have been easy (plug and play) but I did care. Also, if you don't like the new extended names and other features (like trying to get all devices showing both signals) you have to figure out how to get into the settings. The support on their website didn't give me any more than the one page sheet that came with the device. I was able to finally get things to work by going into my router, finding the device on it and then configuring the extender from its IP address on my system. None of this was stated on the "simple instructions".

I did find that if I keep the extender near the wireless router I was able to get a stronger signal to other parts of the house than if I put the extender in those rooms standing by itself (as intended). I am guessing that the original signal from my router wasn't strong enough to get to these places thus the signal I got from the extender at these locations wasn't as strong as keeping it near the router. FYI, I did a speed check on both signals and found the 5GHz was faster but not as much as I expected. Also, the upload speed was always faster than the download speed. You would think it should be the other way around as it is on my PC using the original router.

Bottom line, I am able to get a constant single throughout my house where I wasn't able to in the past. So, I am happy (but still confused for the reasons above) to have coverage now.

Netgear wi-fi range extender

Comments about NETGEAR AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender (EX6200-100NAS):

I needed to set up 8 more computers in the suite next to me for regional state testing for the Certified Nursing Assistant.
My wi-fi wold not reach all of the computers, so I needed an inexpensive way to extend my wi-fi into the space next door. This was the perfect fit for my needs
I went into Staples and explained what I needed to the tech person and he showed me a variety of products in a wide price range..The tech support person was very helpful in explaining the different brands and what would be best for my company's needs.

NETGEAR Range Extender Woes

Comments about NETGEAR AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender (EX6200-100NAS):

The range extender was difficult to install. I called the tech support and they tried to convince me that my computer network was infectected and for $99 they would clean it up this one time - $300 for ongoing support for a year. I had my IT man come by the house and check things out. There was no infection and "tech support" was a scam. I would never recommend NetGear support to anyone. In addition, I would hesited to recommend your equipment because the "ease of installation" is clearly not a true statement. I am considering returning this item because it does not function well.

At first it had trouble connecting to my internet but it was my main router's issue. EASY setup and wow extremely fast. Its faster than my original Wifi!! I recommend this router for anyone who has dead spots as this amplifies the wifi tenfold.
