After a fair struggle trying to get the Extender to communicate with my Router, the product did perform. I eventually had to call NetGear tech support and in fairness, they were excellent in walking me through the install. The product is advertised as Plug and Play re connecting to existing router; however, in my case it did not work. It just sat there plugged into the outlet in the wall. I should emphasize that my browser is Firefox, not Explorer. The Extender was not happy with Firefox and simply would not connect to the web. It may have had something to do with firewalls in Firefox, suffice it to say it was a frustrating experience and perhaps NetGear should think about adding the issue of Firefox in their FAQ section. After switching to Explorer, web access was available and with the help of NetGear tech support they were able to walk me through the manual install/configuration. In my specific situation, there is an area in my home where the wireless signal was very low and caused continual drops. Once installed I had 5 bar strength signal and the product does seem to be working well. I even noted in another area of my home that my speed increased for another laptop that had searched out the device and was using it also. The device is very small so it takes up minimal space. So in conclusion, other than the difficulty in initial installation (isn't that always the way with these products that are advertised Plug 'n Play) of the product, I would say that I am pleased and the price on Staples for product is very competitive compared to other vendors.

I don't typically respond to these requests for reviews but when you get a lemon, you feel the need to product others. I am trying to extend my wireless reach to poolside. On one side of the patio table, the signal is attainable. Two feet away, it falls off. So I bought one of these. The sales person said some people have returned them but felt that they may not have had the expertise to make them work. I do. Even though the product can be manually set up, there is a very easy set up for the novice with an up-to-date router. But, this product . . .? I manually set it up. Then I figured, maybe I wasn't as smart as I thought I was, so reset it and did the automatic set up. Either way, my normal router strength exceeds the strength of the signal through this thing when I am standing right next to the device! Don't waste your time and money. It is going back to the store today. Of course, there is always a chance that I don't know what I am talking about.

NetGear N150 WiFi Range Extender

Comments about NETGEAR N150 WiFi Range Extender for Mobile Wall Plug Version WN1000RP:

With my current Wireless Router on the North end of my house, there were several areas, both downstairs and upstairs that failed to get good Wi-Fi coverage on the South side. I bought one of these units to try and see if I could overcome the lack of coverage. I opted for the manual setup, since the "push button" set up didn't work. The steps were staight forward and easy to follow. Once it was "programmed", I removed it from a wall plug and then plugged it into another wall plug upstairs about halfway between the North and South ends of the house. After entering the WiFi address EXT to my mobile devices, I took each mobile device and tried to access the net in the known "black-hole" areas both upstairs and downstairs. They all worked! Now there isn't a place in my house that Wi-Fi cannot be accessed. Thanks for a great product!

Capable extender

Comments about NETGEAR N150 WiFi Range Extender for Mobile Wall Plug Version WN1000RP:

Great value at the sale price (half off) but otherwise I might step up to the Apple Airport Express as with that you don't have to create a second SSID. While this acts as a wireless extender, and does a good job, the Apple model lets you basically clone your existing WIFI network, so you don't have to have a second SSID (like MyNetwork_ext) so you can just connect transparently. Still, this is a nice, compact extender that is pretty easy to setup and again, at the discounted price of half off, it will be a good investment.

Effective Solution

Comments about NETGEAR N150 WiFi Range Extender for Mobile Wall Plug Version WN1000RP:

My laptop is located on one end of our home and my router is on the other end. A computer, in the den, near the router, receives a strong 5-bar signal whereas, my laptop receives a Wi-Fi signal of 1 to 2 bars. After purchasing and installing a NETGEAR N150 WiFi Range Extender for Mobile Wall Plug my laptop now receives a strong 5-bar signal. This purchase is a very simple solution to a previously frustrating Wi-Fi condition. I would recommend this inexpensive range extender to anyone receiving a weak signal.
Hint: Follow the installation instructions step by step.

Not strong enough for me

Comments about NETGEAR N150 WiFi Range Extender for Mobile Wall Plug Version WN1000RP:

My WiFi is located in one corner of the house and I use my tablet in the den which is located in another corner. This unit could not make the connection needed for me to pick up the signal. It may not be the fault of the N150 Range Extender, just the configuration of my home.
