I purchased this unit for backup. It was shiped without drives. It is just an empty box. Where do I get the drives? the instructions do not say anything about the drives.

Yes, you buy drives separrately. The system is similar to a drobo system, it will work as a network hard drive with one drive in it. When you put a second drive in it, the system uses the second drive as an automatic backup of the first drive. If one drive fails, you are alerted by a light and by email- simply pull out the bad drive and replace, the system will auto backup to the new drive. I use this at work- that way when drive failure happens, i dont lose any productivity or any of my files. Its great knowing my storage is redundant and safe from drive failure- one less thing to worry about in a busy business world

First of all I would recommend that you return this device, it's not really what you wanted to purchase. This is a NAS (Network Attached Storage) server, it does not come with hard drives, you purchase them separately. This unit is intended to be used to create your own personal cloud on the Internet. You should just purchase an external hard drive to use for backup data storage.
