So this thing is pretty awesome. We were in a crunch to get our expenses from last year in order to hand over to our tax advisers when we realized we were way in over our head when it came to the sheer amount of expenses we had and the number of applicable receipts that justify our expenses. During a break after a painful MSExcel session, I desperately googled the phrase "receipt organization." I found a link to this product and thought, "My God, it's worth the money if it works!" And it did... [...] Within 1 hour of opening the box, we had organized over 150 receipts into an awesome expense report. The next day, about two hours of more scanning finished us right up. We spent another hour tweaking categories and applying project names to entries (which you can do as you go, but we waited 'til the end). I emailed the report to our tax advisers along with attached, accurate scans of every receipt and it all worked out.Great Great product.The only con at all to this thing is that about 2 out of every 10 scans gets the amount wrong, but you can check each scan after it analyzes and fix anything it gets wrong. You should check each one anyway because you're dealing with your expenses so you're not even really adding a step.I can't speak highly enough of this product and recommend it to anyone who has the daunting task of receipt preparation staring them in their deadline.

I bought this product to help with expense reporting. I find that it is very useful in scanning receipts. Character recognition is reasonably good and saves some keystrokes. For example, you can "print" items on your screen to .pdf files and send them directly to the Neat software. Saves the time of printing and re-scanning to capture the images. Even works with items in your on-line credit card statement.

Scanner also does a decent job in the field when I need to scan and send a document. Not the fastest scanner but it is effective.

This product takes patience on learning how to operate it. It would have been very beneficial if it would have come with a quick reference booklet or pamphlet on how to use it. I spent a lot of time on how to learn operating it hands on by trial and error--was very frustrating at times. the help/search program on it comes in handy but you have to open and close,read and write down quick notes several times to operate it more effectively and efficiently. It works a bit slow, over-all it's okay (90% of the time)but for the price it costs, I would probably say to look elswhere.

Fantastic to use. Easy setup and Installation. Doesn't need an external power supply. Absolutely tiny and portable. Indispensable for my home / business. Even imports your address book from your Mac, and scans Business cards right in.

The NeatWorks software is the real magic behind this thing. The scanner is so-so but gets the job done for scanning documents. As the devices was designed for portability it lacks the speed the NeatDesk device has. Overall it couldn't be easier to setup and works great for what it was designed to do.

I've been scanning all the paperwork I would normally retain in paper files and shredding the originals. The only advice would be if you go that route use a good online backup service.
