Wow, that was easy. I upgraded my network with a Linksys E1200 N and of course, the Vista machine was the only one that had trouble connecting. After about 4 hours of useless troubleshooting I went to Staples and purchased the N150. I had my daughters laptop connected, N, to our network in about 7 min. from the time I opened the package. I disabled the onboard wireless and now the N150 is in control. She went from 54Mbps to 75Mbps. With a cable modem, this is more than fast for her. Great product and I'm anti-Netgear.

The network adapter is one of the smallest USB adapters around. The connection is good and fast, but the software is a little flaky. When putting the computer to sleep and re-awakening, the software sometimes doesn't come up right away. I have to unplug and replug in the device to make the software appear.

Comments about Netgear G54/N150 Wireless USB Micro Adapter:

I bought this adapter after my wireless and ethernet adapter stopped working on my Lenovo T400. Initially, I thought it was a software issue when my wireless stopped working but after experiencing the same issue with the ethernet connection, I think it's a hardware issue. Almost considered buying a new laptop but wanted to see if a replacement adapter would postpone that investment and I'm glad I took that route. I was a bit skeptical on how the adapter would function, given its small size and relatively inexpensive price, but it has performed well. It's very compact and unobtrusive, so I don't have to take it out when I stow my machine in the bag. Software came on a mini CD and was simple to install and I was up and running very quickly. Haven't noticed any difference with download speeds versus my previous setup. No complaints!

Comments about Netgear G54/N150 Wireless USB Micro Adapter:

Netgear G54/N150 solved the problem when my Toshiba Satellite laptop built in wireless stopped working along with the FN key. A Staples Tech said the minimum charge would be $370 to replace the mother board. The Installation of the NETGEAR G54 was extremely quick, easy, and inexpensive fix. Connection to internet is excellent and nice graphics to illustrate connection status.
Iliked it so much I bought another one for my daughter who had a similar problem with her Toshiba Satellite

Comments about Netgear G54/N150 Wireless USB Micro Adapter:

I bought this for my mom, she was using her older laptop. My dad had an extensive stay at the hospital. My mom was not able to hook up to the hospital Wi-Fi because of the older Wi-Fi adapter on her laptop. She used her phone as a hotspot, using her limited data plan. I bought this for her and it set up easily. She was able to connect quickly and it helped her to make use of all of the free time in the waiting room. I was really pleased with this purchase. It was affordable and it does a good job.

A Netgear router and a reliable Ethernet connection through a port can create a wireless connection. This product is for finding a wifi connection while moving around town.

Asked on 9/21/2012 by Kjohnsonfnp from Bozeman

              1 answer

              • A:

No, it will not work because although the TiVo does have a USB slot, the adapter also requires an Intel Pentium based PC or laptop with an operating system such Windows XP and above. TiVo would not have the drivers necessary to run the device which may make it unusable. Check with TiVo directly to see which devices are compatible for connection purposes.
