Q: I have a pc that is not wifi capable. My internet service is dsl through qwest/centurylink. I am using an actiontec m1000 modem that does not have a router, but has one ethernet port that is now connected to the pc. Would this router be compatible with this system to provide wifi connection to an ipad, iphone etc. Asked on 6/27/2012 by Dale Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: The quick and dirty answer is yes. You can connect the ethernet cord from the modem to the router, and provide wireless access to all your devices. It also will provide 4 additional ethernet ports if you still need a wired connection. Answered on 6/28/2012 by Community Answer from None A: I know it's 2 months later but I'll expand the answer. I'm not sure how old your PC is, but if it runs Win87, Vista, or 7, and has a PCI slot, you can put a new or used wireless card in there and make it wireless. Or, you can use a USB adapter if it's a portable or it has no PCI slots avaiable. I own this WNR2000 router. It is not dual-band. It's 2.4GHZ only. If your phones and i-whatevers are on the 5 GHz band, look at dual-band routers. This router connects well with various b/g and b/g/n PCI cards and also Netgear's USB adapters, but they have to be capable of using the 2.4GHz band. The Netgear N600 WNDR3400 is dual-band. I am going to upgrade to it, to take advantage of the dual-band capabilities that my PCI and USB adapters have. Answered on 9/6/2012 by gohudson from PA
Q: I live in a rural area, can I connect this router to my older model computer (not a wireless computer/a Compaq Presario) computer with PPP (dial-up) so that I may connect my Apple IPod Touch 64GB for use? What additional cables or connection devices do I need to purchase to connect this router to my computer? Thank you. Asked on 5/8/2012 by Becki always Confused! from Washington, PA Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: To use a wireless router, you would need to upgrade to a high speed Internet, usually either DSL or cable to be able to connect either your computer or IPOD to it. The computer itself would work if you plugged it into the back and just used it as a wired router if you had high speed Internet. For wireless though, you would need to get a wireless card to go into your computer to be able to connect to the router. The IPOD should work fine if you had high speed Internet.
