This seemed like the ideal solution to expand wireless coverage by replacing an old router. Wired PCs connected right away. Then I tried to connect our 3 iPhones and hit the BIG snag. No matter which channel you use (or auto) and whether you have on open network or encrypted, even change the network name, reset iPhone networks and reboot, an iPhone will not pick up the SSID of the router. A MacBook Air quickly picked up the 5 GHz network, and an HP laptop connected, but no luck with iPhones 3, 4 or 4S. Apparently NetGear knows of this problem and has no solution. So steer clear if you're an iPhone user, at least until NetGear comes out with a fix.

One tech tried to
Sell me a pricier model, but staples tech said this model fit my needs and more expensive had newer stuff my computers didn't have yet. Helped me save money. Still able to have guest network in our BnB. Set up was easy with phone help of Netgear tech.

Beats the Linksys

Comments about NETGEAR N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router, WNDR4500:

My Linksys was causing all kinds of problems and after talking with them they replaced it. Before the new one came in I decided it would probably be as bad as the first one. On the recommendation of my local Staples manager I decided to purchase the Netgear N900. So far I have been pleased with the purchase. Performs as advertised, easy to set up get it running for a novice. I will recommend this brand to family and friends for future purchases. Staples manager was a great help in deciding on the correct item for my needs.

no a/c card conflict

Comments about NETGEAR N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router, WNDR4500:

I bought a netgear router to replace the one I dropped a wall hanging on and in doing so I bought a mid priced NetGear unit and after I installed it I found It was like being hooked up to dial-up it was horrible. So I took it back to Staples and a Tech there over heard my complaint and told me about the A/C cards that are installed in most new computers, ipads, iphones ect. He suggested I purchase this unit and it was about 10 bucks different in price and yippee it worked. My connection is on the other side of the house and at the time just the distance factor on the router was my concern. So Here's to Staples in-House Tech!! Thank you
