As I write, I am going back and forth with the NetGear engineers on this issue:\=================================\I have LinkSys router plugged into internet box for my ISPRan out of slots for DSLI unplugged one cable in the router at random and plugged in the NetGear Ethernet Switch 5. ISP Box <= LinkSys WiFi router with 4 DSL slots <= NetGear Ethernet Switch 5I then plugged the cable I removed into the NetGear box. However, this does not seem to work.As a test1. I swapped out my printer cable (HP color LaserJet 1518: has its own IP address). Would not print2. I replaced the printer cable in the router and then swapped out the DSL cable to my computer. No connectivityTook out the cable from the NetGear box and put computer cable back into the router. Everything worksWhat am I overlooking?Obviously, I cannot plug the NetGear box directly into my ISP Box or I would lose the protection provided by my router============================I will be happy to comments later on my success or lack therefor in getting this switch to [...]

The DSL box that came with service from Qwest over a year ago did not have any extra ports to plug into when I got another computer and also they do not support the Macs in person just over the phone guidance is all that's offered so I bought this great little "hub" if I'm using my terminology correct ? The "hub" is fast even when two pc's are connected to it and this is a five port device so plenty of room for the future if anything else needs to be connected to it.The price was very reasonable at [$][...]

I use at home for my work to connect my business laptop to the internet. It's not intrusive, protrusive, or inconvenient. It was simple to set up and ready to go right out of the box. I haven't found anything bad about this at all.

We needed to extend a network without the inconvenience of pulling another cable from the wiring closet to an area where one machine already was stationed. The simplest route was to install the 5-port switch. The only concern that remained after installing it was whether there is a manufacturing defect--the power cable would not seat easily and twice, when the switch was repositioned, the power cable unseated itself and shut off the connectivity. The plug would not seat cleanly or demonstrate a convincing performance in terms of it staying well in place. Otherwise, we have used this same model repeatedly with satisfactory results.
