I bought this product after weird behavior on my new Vista Ultimate PC was set up. I transferred my old Zyxel G PCI adapter to the new PC. From day one, the Zyxel was intermittent dropping the connection - I wasted a lot of time trying to fix the link.

I ended up buying this Netgear and it was a dream come true. Instead of installing the PC, I downloaded the latest drivers from Netgear, installed them, then plugged in the adapter. Now my connection is solid with a consistent 24x7 -60dB signal! I dont know if its the diffrence of G versus N, but this product is amazing!

The PC is in a garage with lots of machinery and very challenging for the WiFi to penetrate but the antenna on this product does a great job.

The cable is ~1 meter long. Perfect for a floor tower under the desk and placing the antenna on the wall or on top of the desk where there is better reception.

The card with the latest drivers works flawlessly with Vista (it IS certified compatible) so dont be scared by the other reviews. I was concerned about this after reading the older reviews. It seems that Netgear worked out all the bugs.

I have not had many proplems with Netgear products in the past, but this one drove me insane. I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, and the software in the box refused to recognise once the card was in the PCI slot. I have encountered this before with other hardware, and its a simple matter of running Windows updates once the card is installed ... but without any way to connect I was rather stuck. I ended up doing a system restore with the card installed, and then windows installed the required drivers during installation, and everything went fine. Annoying, but ithas a nice range. If you can not go through this hassle with 7, then might want to try another product.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax™ Wireless-N PCI Adapter:

I followed the instructions for installation, but the installation wizard did not go to the next phase of asking what country or region. My PC also did not recognise the adapter when I installed it in the slot. Guess I'll have to wait for a model that's compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax™ Wireless-N PCI Adapter:

I had purchased one of these about two years ago. I had a very difficult time getting it to install with vista 64 bit. I called netgear and was told to get the USB adapter: WNDA3100. Long story short, that stopped working in about a year. So I purchased a cisco/linksys USB adapter which failed in about 6 months.

I have given up on USB adapters, though it seems that is everyone's focus (including netgear) but this adapter installs perfectly with win 7 64-bit. I am currently using it to stream music with no issues and full reception (better than any USB i had).

Honestly, the key, i think in getting this to work with win 7 64-bit is to NOT use the netgear software. I tried that on the first one i bought, but it didn't work. This time i just used the pre-installed windows driver and it works MUCH better.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax™ Wireless-N PCI Adapter:

Netgear usually makes solid SOHO products but with this line, for Vista users, you need to stay away. Installed this bundle on a XP box with no issues whatsoever. Solid 300Mbps from my Extreme-N D-Link gaming router @ 100ft. Vista.....totally different story. Driver update letter in the box points to Netgear[@] site but the driver on that site points to the XP/Vista download at the regualar Netgear site. This driver/software is a no go on Vista. Locks up the PC while installing and once its failed the first time, you're toast!.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax™ Wireless-N PCI Adapter:

This was an upgrade from a Netgear G card in order to connect to my new Netgear Gigabyte N Router. I had to do a little uninstallation from the old card, drivers, software etc. but then it was pretty much smooth sailing from there on out. I had one small glitch getting it to fully connect to my router but Netgear's tech support line was AWESOME!! Start to finish including tech support took me no more than 30 minutes to complete.

Once installed, my connection speed to my router has greatly improved. No more frustrating dropped connections then auto reconnects. Stays connected reliably pretty much 24/7 if I want it to.

I can now stream video from my PC to my PS3 media server wirelessly and not have any buffering impacts!! Wahoo!!

Comments about Netgear Rangemax™ Wireless-N PCI Adapter:

Out of the box I set it up EXACTLY the way the instructions said to. After installing the software, I installed the hardware and turned my computer back on. The software from Netgear didn't recognize the Netgear hardware. Vista saw it, but the driver wasn't installed. Tried to install the driver off the CD that came w/ the device and got an error. Called customer service @ 1-888-NETGEAR. There wasn't an option to connect to the free 90 day customer service. I had to use their paid support and it took over 45 minutes for the tech to come up with a "work-around." I now have to use the "work-around" every time I re-boot my Vista Home Premium 32 bit machine (which is incredibly annoying and time consuming). I'll NEVER buy another NETGEAR product as long as I live. It's JUNK!!!!
