Was hesitant initially, but after hooking it up in the basement with a Netgear WNDR3700 router in the second floor, the WN3000RP works without resets. It has been a week plugging into a wall outlet in my basement, since then we have strong and stable wi-fi connection. Very happy with the purchase. [...]

Not easy to setup as advertised and DOES NOT WORK with ATT U-VERSE 2WIRE 3800GV-B GATEWAY. I have a Dell 8300 with i7 Processor, 8gig of memory, Att U-verse TV/Internet/Home Phone, 18mbs Internet service. Extremely lousy Tech Support. I spent no less than 8 hours on the phone with Netgear's Tech Support yesterday. They are from India or that area, very difficult to understand, don't know what they are doing. Talked to three different people, first person said to check with ATT Support to make sure I have the latest firmware on my 2Wire, said she would call me back in half hour. ATT said I do have latest firmware. Person from Netgear Support NEVER called me back, so I called them back. Next person was even harder to understand, I spent at least four hours on the phone with this guy, said my ticket number and registration was invalid, said he has been with Negear Tech Support for five years, he DID NOT know what he was doing. Assumed, did not ask me, that I was using a laptop and a wireless connection to the Internet, I don't have a laptop and my computer is hard wired to the 2Wire modem. Had me disconnect the Cat5 to my computer and connect it to the Netgear extender, he said I have to do this in order to setup the extender, which is totally false. I told him if I did that I won't have a connection to the Internet, he told me I was wrong and had me do it anyway and told me to enter a netgear address in my browser which of course didn't work because I had no connection to the Internet. He completely discounted everything I tried telling him. Then, and only then, is when he asked how I was connected to the Internet on my laptop. He then had me download some software so he could take over my computer. Once he took it over I could see that he didn't know what he was doing. It was like he just started as Tech Support person. Then he told me my 2Wire built in router was defective. I told him he is wrong because I've been using it with my WDTV streamer yesterday. After that and waisting more time he then told me my NetGrear WN3000 is defective and to return it. After over four hours on the phone with this guy and nothing accomplished I was becoming very frustrated so I told him I wanted to talk with someone who knows what they are doing so he put me on hold for several minutes and finally his supervisor came on the phone. Now we started the setup process all over again. This guy was just as difficult to understand but after at least another two and a half to three hours he finally got it working. By far this was the WORST customer tech support experience I've ever had. I researched many wifi extenders and this one was suppose to work with my 2Wire 3800 Gateway, but it does not.

Easy to setup

Comments about NETGEAR N300 WiFi Range Extender Wall Plug Version WN3000RP:

Really nice product. Compact and easy to configure. I was looking at another product which was wired. But after speaking to the staples representative, he mentioned that the wired system requires one of the units to be connected to the Router and plugged in and the the extender must be on the same electrically circuit breaker in order to operate.

So I decided to purchase this model. Very simple but make sure you follow the steps exactly. At first I missed a step which required me to reset the unit and start all over. So it took a little longer than expected.

At first you must connect the device near the router in order to configure it. Since I had WPA2 authentication on my router I had to configure it manually. I used an iPad to connect to the Netgear device and used their wizard to configure it. then moved it up to the second floor where I need it. Pretty straight forward.

Has been running for about a week now. No problems. Do not see a reduction in speed using the EXT selection.

Junk, do not buy.

Comments about NETGEAR N300 WiFi Range Extender Wall Plug Version WN3000RP:

Pure junk. Keeps dropping connection. Wifi thermostat keeps loosing connection. TV refused to connect. Fire TV connected but streaming stopped every 20 minutes. I am very technical and this happened on 2 units. No I am not more than 25 feet from the router and get a green light from the unit on router signal. On my 20 feet from TV. I moved the extender to different places with the same result. I tried the N700 extender and it was a little better but still junk. I bought a Linksys N600 extender and it works great.

Not Working all the time

Comments about NETGEAR N300 WiFi Range Extender Wall Plug Version WN3000RP:

It works most of the time--not all the times. For mysterious reasons, the extender lost the network signal from the router from time to time in my house. For reliable service, get something else.

WiFi made it to my bedroom

By Murray Potash

Comments about NETGEAR N300 WiFi Range Extender Wall Plug Version WN3000RP:

Our router is located in the home office which is at one end of our two story split home. My wife has no problem getting WiFi in her office located in the basement. We have no problem getting WiFi in the living room, kitchen, laundry room, garage, or in the master bedroom above the home office. However it was terribly frustrating that the coverage would be sporatic in the other two bedrooms. After researching multiple range extenders, as that is what my cable company said was needed, I found this to have the best ratings in the price range I desired. Easy to set up, plugged into the outlet in the living room, and WiFi now flows throughout.
