I purchased this about a month ago for a home network with 2 laptops and a broadband phone. It was replacing a Belkin router that worked fine but we wanted to step up from G speed to N speed. As soon as I set it up the phone stopped working. Now I'm an IT manager by day so I know how to configure these guys but I could not get the phone to work again. Then I noticed every morning I would be connected Local Only while the router said Identifying in my Network Control Panel. I would have to disconnect from the network from my computer and then reconnect and then I would have internet access. My husbands computer was doing the same thing. It would randomly drop the connection while I was online and I would have to disconnect and reconnect again. The cable modem was fine it is something with the router. I looked it up online and tons of people have the same issue with this router. I will be returning it today. I plugged my old belkin back in and everything works perfectly and our phone started working again right off the bat. I contacted NetGear but they seem to have no idea they were trying to put the problem on my cable modem. I'll be returning this today.

Comments about Netgear WNR2000 Wireless-N Router:

I've been very reluctant to use a wireless network since I live a community close to other houses and networks. I like the security features, even though all our computers have a seperate firewall, it works with the router just fine and there are 3 users, 2 with Vista and 1 with XP Pro, who need the 'Net and the 4 ports are great. All 3 of us have been on the 'Net at the same time and no one has been dropped from the network. The house is large and the range is great from the router to other side and upstairs, I still have a great connection. The best part was the fact it only took 10-15 minutes and I had all 3 laptops connected and running. As long as you follow the directions with the Set-Up Wizard there should be no issues in setting it up and it working. NetGear did a great job with this router and making it easy to set-up and use even for the novice user. Even the documentation that came with the router was easy to follow, as was the manual on the provided CD. I would recommend printing the manual for easy future reference and if there is a question while completing the set-up, I had to, only to verify what the lights meant on the front of the router.

Comments about Netgear WNR2000 Wireless-N Router:

I use this at home for my laptop as well as desktop. I previously used another brand router, but it always dropped my ISP provider's modem connection after a few hours, and I would have to reset it. This one is easy to use. It can be used immediately just by plugging it in, but I do suggest installing the software and setting up for security purposes. Installation CD made the application for even the novice to be able to install without a problem. That extra software may take a bit of time to install, but it allows many more options to monitor actions if anyone outside tries to access the private network from outside your home/company access point (WAP).

Comments about Netgear WNR2000 Wireless-N Router:

Bought this one because of good brand reputation and good price. I wanted to increase my wireless range, and this one has done well. The older model had a weak signal in one bedroom; this one handles that room plus out on the patio, the backside of the house, even beyond. My only problem was in getting it set up. Turns out the main problem was needing to disable the former router before adding this one so the computer wasn't confused. Unfortunately the instructions did not walk me through that step though the rest of the process was OK (except they were not aimed toward Win7 users). Took a call to the store where purchased to get that suggestion. It has been in use now for about a week and we have had no problems once we got connected with it.
